Default Next best thing to Raw???

I wanted to know, what is the next best thing to raw I can feed my chis. And not Ziwipeak... a bag of that is too expensive when it barely last me 2 weeks.

Have you looked at pre-made raw diets?
What do you currently feed? Are you simply looking for a cheaper option?

If you are grossed out by raw meat but are willing to put in the work then home cooking is the next best thing I think.

If it is that you don't have the time to cook/prepare meals then try a pre-made raw.

If it is a cost problem raw can be cheaper than good kibble so let us know and I am sure lots of people will chime in with tips on finding cheaper meat and making it really affordable.

... so it depends on what you mean by "next best thing."

I have been feeding raw for awhile now. It doesnt gross me out or anything. I find the pre made raws to be two expensive when feeding 2 chis. Im looking for a good quality kibble I can feed. I am still going to continue to feed raw meals. I would like to feed a kibble for breakfast and a raw meal for dinner. After feeding raw, I just feel like there is no such thing as a good kibble. Lol

You don't have to feed 100% raw or 100% ZiwiPeak to get a lot of the benefits. I feed a good kibble in the morning (Earthborn Coastal Catch grain free ATM) with just a dessert spoon of ZP as a topper and at night I feed raw pork or turkey or chicken (Chloe has an allergy to beef) with another dessert spoon of ZP. They get chicken wing tips as a treat once a week and a pig ear strip or bully stick most days for their teeth. On this mix they are lean, have nice breath and teeth, low doggy odour and shiny coats.

All kibble is processed, so not as natural as feeding raw meat. Good kibbles have a high percentage of meat from a named source, and are grain free. They are not particularly cheap though. If you are looking for something dry that is more convenient, how about the freeze dried raw such as Stella & Chewy's?

I know that a lot of people on here feed kibble for one meal and raw or ziwi for the other, which is what we usually do. We rotate through all of the grain-free Acana kibbles here. Acana is made right in the next province so it's available at every pet store that exists here. Not sure how available it is elsewhere.
