Ive been doing tons of research of things i should consider before i get a third chi. Many times ive read that having 2 dogs they both fight for your attention but then having 3 dogs instead of fighting for your attention they are busy with pack dynamics. And also that having 1 or 2 dogs is mild but having 3 is a very big change. I cant explain it so i'll just put a link to what ive been reading.
Let me kno what your opinions are when it comes to just having 2 chi's or having 3.

Ok i have 2 female chis and a sheltie, the chis are a bit jealous of each other sometimes the Male Sheltie is not the pack leader, the tiny one is the boss.Maybe i'm lucky but adding another chi with my other 2 hasn't been a problem at all or a big change
I'm sure somebody with a pack will come on.Hope this helps

Stella is dog #3 in our house. I don't think that the dynamic has changed much because of her (moving into town has caused more issues than adding a 3rd dog). I think Stella has changed things for the better, tbh - Now Maggie has someone to play with, and Max is left alone... just the way he likes it!

I will say that, due to my spending so much of my time trying to train a stubborn little jack-chi, (as well as having less room to run during the day, and SO much more stimulation from outside sources) Maggie has regressed a bit in her training. Try not to make that same mistake.

first i had minnie and tootsie ( sisters from the same litter ) . then a freind of mine got sick and i told her i'd take her yorkie ( about the same age as minnie and tootsie .. around 2 years old at the time ).

minnie and tootsie accepted her and they all get along nice.

but before i got the yorkie , i really wanted one more chi. so, i just wasnt satisfied with my fur family... i kept looking and looking. then, i found someone who was looking to rehome Latte. she was 1 year , 3 months old. she fit right in perfectly.
now, my fur family is complete. i dont look anymore :)

I recently got a 3rd chi (in march) and I'm so glad I did! Leo has been such a great addition and now my fur family is complete! And I can take one with me if I want without feeling bad for the one left at home. I love having 3 chi's!!

That's a good idea actually. I always take both of them everywhere because I feel bad if I leave the other home alone (which is the main reason I got two in the first place)! Now to talk Josh into letting me get another one sometime....lol

I have 8 Chihuahuas and have not had a problem what so ever, as they sort out their own order in the pack and I am pack leader which suits us all. I own a farm so there are times when I can not be with them when I am out doing the stock, so that is when they can just enjoy being dogs and do what dogs do.

The only issue I have with having 3 is that I only have 2 hands. That means 2 trips out to the car, 2 trips up and down stairs etc. Apart from that it really isn't more work to have 3. And now my husband finally gets to have a dog to snuggle with on the couch each night because when we just had 2 they were both usually with me but now there's not enough room so one sits with him.

I only have 3 chi d/t adopting 2 special needs chihuahuas....turns out I have 3 special needs girls as Bella has developed a chronic condition ...so for me, 3 is very busy and very expensive...would I change anything..no....do they all get along...no....but for the most part they tolerate each other...at one time I had 2 large breed dogs and a small dog...now that was taxing...mud, hair, saliva...don't miss those messes LOL
