So my 8 week old chi zoey is marking her territory I think? In all my years I've never seen such a young pup do this.. I'm pretty sure that's what she's doing she pees then kicks her legs back! Why on earth would she do this? I googled it and didn't get anything can someone answer this? It's so weird? My other dogs never did this?

Kicking the heels back after peeing is really just a dog saying "I'm done peeing" (or pooping). I highly doubt she is 'marking'. Why is a 8 week old puppy free and peeing in your house? Housetraining 101---keep the puppy confined unless you are with her or she is tethered to you! Good luck with her. Sue

They have scent glands in their feet. By kicking the ground, they are spreading their scent. It is territorial. It's normal.

All 3 of mine do it. Pedro will throw dirt and grass up on you if you're close enough. Gracie is kinda awkward at it, but that doesn't stop her from 'scratching off'. Diesel started doing it as soon as he saw the other 2 doing it, at about 10 weeks.
