This is her response when i told her that there were only 2 types of chi's long and short hair.

Hes a teacup, according to CKC they dont not classify them i.e teacup, toy or chi. But there is a great diff between them.
a Tea ~ gets no bigger than 4.5 5 lbs ( my chi is a yr and has been 3.3 for 4 mo)
a Toy~ get no bigger then 7lbs a
any bigger is just a chihuahua. Diff people have diff opnions, i always thought a chi was a chi but working at Texas A&M Vet Clinic i learned the diff really quick.
thank you all for the welcome!!

I just think its funny sometimes. People lie to the person getting the chi.

Another girl had a "registered teacup chihuahua". That chi grew to be over at least 6 lbs. I just laughed cause I had previously told her he was not a teacup by any means.

OMG its so laughable really - anything over 7 pouns is just a chihuahua lmao - there all just chihuahuas
It sounds like this girl is just plain clueless. Go figure.

^^ lmao! That was funny!

I get so tired of telling people there's no such thing that I stopped unless ask me if Lina is a teacup or a miniture. I got into a big fight with some girl on a paris hilton forum (can't help myself, i'm a fan lol) cause I was commenting to someone else that teacups are not real, a different girl goes, "teacups are too real cause the petstore i got my teacup yorkie from gave me papers and they say, 'teacup yorkshire terrier'." I was like...there are sooo many things wrong with that statement lol. But, I just kinda dropped it after giving her links to different sites saying what teacups are, including the AKC site, and a couple links telling her why she shouldn't be buying from petstores (puppy mill sites). Some people just don't want to learn and they'll think there are teacups for the rest of thier lives. I still can't convince my grandma there's no such thing.

Guess that means cause I weigh over 120lbs I am not a real human :?
I was in a pet shop a few weeks ago with one of my chis and a lady ask me if she was a Teacup. I said no, she is a Chihuahua there is no such thing as a teacup chi. She informed me she had been around Chihuahuas all her life and yes there was a such thing as a teacup. I told her the only way to get Rosie in a teacup was to shrink her in the dryer  Rosie is small, she weighs only 3 pounds (she is 7 months). From the time I was a small child my family has been owned by one type toy breed or the other and none have every been called teacups or sold to us as a teacup. It is just so sad the information some people choose to believe.

Lori thats a good point...and I have light brown hair so im rare, lol
Oh yeah the debate was going on and on and even ANOTHER person got info from the akc site and posted it. I was just stating the facts. so then I said

"Well you might consider your doggie to be small as in a teacup" "But there is no such thing as a type of chihuahua that is a teacup. ITs just NOT A TYPE OF DOG> WHAT DON'T YOU GET! LOL

She quickly stated she didnt want a debate. Neither did I but i wanted her info to be true that others read... lol
chiwi still sleeps inside my bra so i still refer to her as a bracup chihuahua....

ladies....... my BOSS uses the teacup term :?
Not just a half an hour ago I got asked if Hershey is a tea cup. I simply told the girl that there is no such thing as tea cup she is just a chihuahua. And her reply was "Oh yes there is my friend has one" So I educated her. A chi is a toy breed by akc standerds nothing else. And I explained the bad breeder thing. She probably pissed off her friend by all this info because you know she paid more for a "tea cup"

Anyways what the hell kind of tea do these people drink  to call Hershey a tea cup she's small at 3lbs but not that small. I wouldn't put her in my tea cup.

:D :D :D :D really funny stef
if anyone says it to me i politeley inform them that their lack of knowledge excludes them from convrsation with me. Seriously, if someone uses the word teacup IMO they have no knowledge or for that matter no respect for the breed, I'd dismiss their ramblings and leave them too it. Anyone who has any real commitment to getting a chi or owning one realises pretty quick that the term is not accepted, and is in fact an annoying money driven gimmick.
