Here is a handy guide to giving your chi meds if needed. I am not a vet, or intending to represent myself as one, I am merely providing a resource.

Great these things are good to know. thanks for the link.
You can give a dog Pepto Bismol?? I never knew that! Hmmmm. That is interesting!! By the way Joebean, is the chi in your avatar yours? I love white chi's, well I love them all, I really do, but it isn't too often you see a solid white one. :)
thanks - great info

Pepto does work. I gave it to him when he was getting physically sick.

Also very important to have on hand is glucose! Chic's can have low blood sugar! Go to this link, great info. Harley has reverse coughing that we finally found out.

we've given zoey pepto because she had an upset stomach one day. the vet told us to give her a very little bit because she is so small. it worked pretty well!
SillyMom, yes you can give Pepto or Kaopectate (same thing) to dogs and puppies, it works great for bouts of upset tummy and diarrhea. And yes, the dog in my avatar is my 1 1/2 year old female, Chiquita, but she is cream and white, but she is a BEAUTIFUL color :) Here is the pic in color.
She's Beautiful joebeans  Do you have any problems in the sun with her? Just curious. :D
Nope, she loves to sun bathe, I just make sure she isn't getting too hot. She will even try to lay in the little dots of sun that are on the floor when the sun comes through the closed blinds! lol We've taken her on a canoe trip before, I rubbed her down with some Water Babies sun block so she wouldn't get burned and she didn't have any problems.
Gosh she is cute! I can't wait to take my chi out next summer!! It is getting cold now and it is such a bummer! I love her pic w/the life jacket on!!!
oh she's adorable! she looks great in her life vest! :)

Those are some cute pictures. The first time we had Harley out camping and boating, I think his blood sugar got real low. He was getting sick every other hour, not eating, sleeping all the time. It lasted for about 24 hours. That was before I read any information regarding low blood sugar. The next it happens we are going to take him to the vet and have them do some blood work just to make sure. I was told that you can rub honey on their gums and that would be just as good as glucose.

Now we just keep giving him water every 5 minutes (it seems) when we are out in the sun. Keep us posted on any kind of boating event. :D
