There is an abandoned race track near our home. It is a piece of paradise for us,
because the dogs get to run wild to their hearts desire. In a very busy city with
highways left and right it is extremely difficult to find such a place. Usually we
walk to and up the mountain just so the pups could run, which takes us on
average 4 hours just to get there by foot. So a place close to home is really
great. It won't be there for long as they are planning on building condos there,
but until then it's all ours baby! haha Chanel has a blast, I took a few pictures
today, I wish I could have taken better shots but it started to rain heavily, so
I had to put the camera away, you can still get an idea of the fun Chanel has
from these shots. We stayed even through the rain, and truly had a blast,
coming here has become part of our daily routine, it's a nice change from
walking in circles around the dirty city. :)

On the way to the track...
Chanel does not look as excited as usual because it is drizzling a bit.

Looking sweet.

Oh mom I LOVE this place!!! :p

The track

You can see Rocky & Benji having a blast in the background.

Free as a bird.

Oh yeah baby!

In the background you can see the mountain with the church on it, this is where
we go to a few times per week. It's beautiful there, I wish I could go more often.

That looks like so much fun. You can see the happiness pouring from her face.

I wish I could find something like that for my girls.
At least you have a gorgeous yard for them. I'm in a very tiny apartment,
this is part of the reason why we walk 4-5 times per day. I don't feel right
having my dogs be forced to be stuck indoors too much.

Beautiful pics as usual LS! :)
Thank you so very much. :)

How are you doing?

That's awesome! I don't know of anywhere nearby that is large and suitable for running freely like that. We also live in a very tiny apartment with no yard right on a main street, so there will have to be many walks for our puppy when we get her. I hope we can find somewhere like that to take her so she doesn't have to be leashed outside constantly.

Chanel is so pretty! :daisy: I love white coats. They're my favorite color for longhairs.

I know I've said this before about Chanel but its so true there's just something special about that little dog. It's not just her happy disposition but something more fundamental to who she is. Can't quite put my finger on it.

Judging by the views I'd say Ville St Laurent area of Montreal ;)
I could be wrong but there's only two Walmarts in the Montreal area..

Great pics! and what a great resource you found for the dogs! any idea when they will be redeveloping the track into condo's? new construction everywhere it seems!

Oh you are so sweet, thank you!
I can not wait until you get your pup, I'm excited for you.
You are right for not settling for just any dog, but waiting for the right one.
All of your efforts will pay off once you finally find that perfect dog.
Of course I believe all dogs are special, but some are meant only for certain people.

I just love her huge grin in the last one!!!! <3
Me too! Hubby saw that picture and said "Yuk!"...lol, can you believe that?
He thinks she looks weird in that shot, I think she looks so happy, it's awesome. :p

Yes, I am in Montreal, Quebec. :)
This is the "Hippodrome de Montreal" racing track.

You're welcome. :)

I'm good, just a little worn out from work (and the kids lol). How've you been?
Aww kids and work...good times! Haha, soon they will be all grown and you
won't know what to do with all of that free time. ;) It's good to be busy, just
don't forget to take a moment for yourself here and there. As for me, I'm
hanging in there, as you know I have a chronic illness which is a daily struggle,
but the pups and hubby help keep me sane. So all is good, I'm lucky to have
such a phenomenal support system.

You know what you have a great 6th sense there. ;)
Because Chanel is definitely not just a dog. She was born on the day that my
Pomeranian died, and I swear to you I sometimes feel like Chanel has the
wisdom of a dog that lived many years. With all of the dogs, both mine and
rescued, I never came across such a bright and in-tune doggie, and I am not
saying that just because she is mine. She really is beyond anything I have
seen. It still feels unreal that she is part of my life, to the point where I think
it is almost too good to be true and something bad must be coming...
Anyways, enough of my crazy rambling! lol Thank you for your compliments,
I hope you, your husband and pup are all doing well! Talk soon.

What a great place. Chanel looks like she loves it.
Oh it really is! Chanel is easy going, she's happy 24/7, but this place definitely
brightens her days even more. We are lucky we found it.

Oh tell me about it! Seems like entire Montreal will be all condos soon.
I heard that no sales can be made before 2017, but I believe they have
a lot of work to do before then, such as decontamination before any
construction. And once they start demolishing, we won't be able to go
anymore, it'll be too dangerous for the pups. So we shall see, I hope
we will have it at least for the summer.

so cute! i would love to have a place like that to take tillie! :D x
You know normally we do on-leash walks 4-5 times per day. And a few times
per week we go to a mountain so they could run, but it is a very far walk.
Now we have a place where they can run daily off leash, which is just so
amazing. You can start by taking Tillie on little exploration walks, and who
knows what you will find. :) There is so much out there to discover.

In a way these photos are so heartbreaking because my little guys have no freedom to run. I live in a national forest (1.2 million acres) across from 10s of thousands of acres of open space (seriously--like 30,000 acres), and I cannot ever let them loose due to hawks, rattlesnakes, foxes, coyotes, etc. I bring them to my boyfriend's house and they can trot around a little area of his semi-protected garden, but only with us both out there watching them like hawks--because there are hawks! They still love that little patch of Chi paradise and play and always want to be out there, but they can't be for very long. My big dogs have all the freedom they crave, but my chis will never have Chanel's life. she is one lucky girl.

Don't worry LS. I always make sure to make time for myself. :p

I'm not sure if I mentioned it or not, but my oldest is severely autistic. Chances are my husband and I are stuck with him for life. :blob7:

PS Holly's the same way. She helps keep me sane through it all. Bless her little heart! :)

You know it's interesting you say that, because when I think of open spaces
such as where you live, I imagine my dogs running free, having a blast. Yet in
reality, open spaces don't necessarily mean freedom, do they?! Where you
live is truly a paradise in my mind. My husband and I are working our butts off
so in 10 years or so we could move to a similar area. We are just not city
people, we both crave nature. But I now wonder how we will handle our
future dogs, I guess we'll have to get large breeds, but even then I would
worry about the dogs hunting all of creatures around. As for Chihuahuas, are
you able to walk them safely on-leash? Or do are the birds of prey brave
enough to not care for a human near by?

Look at her!! It even looks like she's smiling, so cute!
Luckely Vinny has freedom at here, we have lots of meadow up here. He actually doesn't like to be outside, except when there are other dogs XD
We also have my lovely step-parents who have a garden as big as a park! It's suuuuper pretty and some how vinny likes it there way better! He can run arround and we don't have to worry he will run away, because he simpily can't. They also have a swimingpool, so I can't wait till summer! This year I can start training there for agility!
