My chihuahua is always giving himself surface cuts/scratches (not deep at all) due to the fact he is trying to scratch his flea bites. I have tried putting first aid medications made for this problem in dogs but he finds a way to lick it and it results in him vomiting. Is there anything I can use to treat these lacerations that would not cause my buddy to vomit?

I use Hydrogen Peroxide on everything. :) Just clean the scratch and hold him while it dries. Plus hydrogen peroxide doesn't burn like alcohol does.

Just a thought,
Elizabeth

There is an antibiotic shampoo I use that is great. Sulfodene (?) that would help, they make stuff w/bitter tatse in it so the dog wont lick and it's safe too. I think the name is Biocain....something like that you can find these at any pet sore, maybe that will help.

once cleaned apply something like vaseline a petroleum jelly as this will cover it and stop him from licking the wound undertneath , it also acts as a barrier and will stop other infection getting in :D
