Hi everyone,
I am considering adding my first chi to my family. A family friend breeds, and she has a nine-month-old she was planning on keeping/breeding, but their human family is growing and she has realized she's in over her head at the moment. I have always wanted a chi so I told her I am interested, and I went to meet the pup yesterday. She is beautiful and sweet and I think she'd be a great fit for us, however I noticed she has blue eyes (ice blue). I know this is undesirable in the show ring, however, is this indicative of any health issues? She is also a hidden merle.

Hi, I personally haven't heard about blue eye's being a health concern.
Did you ever get the pup?

Merle lines may have blue eyes. As far as I know, there are no health concerns. That being said, this dog should never be bred to another merle. The pups may have issues. JMO

as per humans i think some dogs have natural blue eyes. and it dosent mean they will develop issues with their eyes wghen they get older. but the do develop eye issues as they age but that is not dependent on the color of their eyes!

some pups have natural blue eyes like humans do. dosent mean they have an eye issue even though they tend to develop them as they age but that may or may not be related to the color of their eyes
