better aim please

I realize that this is probably a pretty regular question but i really need some advice adn support here. Mario just turned one year old and he is usually pretty good with using his puppy box. Now it seems that he is regressing back to pooping ad peeing everywhere! When we catch him we take him to his box and whenever he uses his box with praise him sooo much. We also spray down the areas where he makes mistakes with pet spray but it doesn't seem to work.
I guess I don't understand what we are doing wrong but I would greatly appreciate any tips. ALso i remember someone mentioning using a vinager mixture to deter them from using the spot again, does this work better then pet store stuff? Thanks so much sorry about the long post.
