I took Zola for his final check at the vet yesterday and he says he's totally fine now. He said keep him on the chicken as his belly does not agree with dog food. So he did a really nasty poo today..It ran straight out of him and had some blood in it to. The vet told me before not to worry it its fresh red blood as its bad nucious from his body? He said worry it it's dark coloured. Anyway... it was red. In the last month Ive seriously had him at the vets about 7 times or more. I just don;t know what else I can do? It's so scary to but the weird thing is he is not sick at all he's totally crazy hyper and happy

I may call my breeder over the weekend to ask if she has heard of this before or any other problems from zola's litter or his parents first litter?

Oh Vicky , I'm so sorry to hear this about your Zola :(
I was wondering how he was getting on ? :(
What tests did the vet do ? blood test ? maybe an x-ray ?
I'm sorry i can't help with what may be wrong with him BUT
it is good to know he is still crazy & hyper :)

It sucks that he is still having this problem but if he is hyper and playing that sounds good.

The vet feels his belly, and they have seen the poo cuz I took in a sample. The they take his temp and sound his heart. Thats it really. They just ask me how he's eating and what the poo looks like. To be honest I was thinking scans should have been done by now?
Could it be the chance in diet. Both vets I saw really did not seem concerned. I still have him on the med they gave me and he also has to have this stuff mixed with his chicken which is for sensitive bellys. If it happens again and theres more blood I am definatley taking him to another vet.
My vet is pretty old and works from 9am thru til 7.30pm at night. He really does know his stuff so Im just puzzled as to why this is still happening. Could he be allegic to chicken aswell??? Or is it just that he's tried so many different things??

I'm certainly no medical expert, but that just does not sound normal. Have they not suggested doing further testing? How long has this been going on? Maybe you just need to be assertive with the vet and ask for more testing. Sounds as though you have confidence in your vet, but if this continues I would ask for further tests or a referral to a specialist.

It could possiby be there is nothing really wrong, since he is playful and full of energy. But at least you could put your mind to rest with testing or a specialists opinion.

I would consider getting a second opinion as well as the suggestion of a specialist. Your vet won't be upset with you if you do, especially if another vet finds out it's something other than what they've diagnosed or missed.

Either way, I hope your baby gets to feeling better very soon!!

He is fine today. He did a poo this morning and there was a tiny bit of blood in it. Not as much as usual. Maybe it's just taking time for him to get better and use to his new food (chicken and rice). He WILL definatlly be going to the vet on Monday if there is still even a bit of blood still there by then. Thing is my vet is on holiday so if I take him to my ususal place I will get to see a different vet anyway and I will ask him/her what they think. He's cccrazzzy hyper. My friends lab just came in so Zola had crazy fun barking and running circles around him. My mum and sister are here to visit so he is loving all the attention to
