Just wondering whether most people have had three or four booster shots for their puppies. The Breeder recommends four but the Vet says that three are typical for chihuahuas. I think we will go with four just to be on the safe side, but I'm just wondering what others have done. Thanks!

shots

I have gotten the 3 series and the fourth is usually a rabies vaccination. Please stay away from the Lepto vaccine.

In my area we get 3 sets of shots plus the rabies.
I believe the lepto is for a disease that is spread by rat urine.
So if you don't have any rats in your area it isn't necessary.
If you don't know whether or not your vet gives it, ask.
If there are not rats in your area, the risks associated with the vaccine arn't worth it.

Hershey is having 3 sets of shots and then a rabies vac. He has had his first shots, he has his second set tomorrow. I'm sure he's gonna be happy about that. LOL  He did very well last time, except he did get lethargic. I hope he does fine at the vets tommorow and also afterward.

Ok, thanks. I live in the concrete jungle of Manhattan where we have rats (although I don't tend to see them outside the subway). I'm guessing that the vet would have brought it up if he thought it was necessary since he only attends to manhattenite animals. I'll probably ask him, though. I found an alert concerning it at: http://www.nycdog.org/
