We went on a camping trip this weekend (our "weekend" is in the middle of the week). It was a lot of fun and didn't get too cold, low was 44 and that was in the middle of the night while the dogs were tucked in our sleeping bags with us :)

^Kerri hanging out at the campsite.

^Copley showing off his new coat. I got it on sale at petsmart right after christmas. The dogs actually were just in their sweaters no overcoats, once the fire got going. They cuddled up on their bed a few feet away and LOVED it. It is funny because at this point my dogs are very "fire smart". They are a little scared of it and move if the wind changes and smoke comes their way but they are comfortable cuddling up with their back so it. I wish I could have gotten a picture of it but it was dark out once they were being cute by the fire.

^I LOVE Joshua trees, they are so cool

We are going to try to get out camping a lot more this winter. Just being out for the weekend is so nice and I feel so much better during the week when I camp outside for even one day. Sadly Nova a can't come yet but I do a LOT of favors for friends with puppies so I am cashing that in now. There are several friends who "owe me one" for watching their puppies while they are still being house-trained. They will stop by and sit with Nova in the house for a few hours at night and in the morning while we are gone camping. :) She only ends up alone for a few hours at night and honestly she is most happy when she is alone in her pen anyway. I hope by next winter she will be out camping with us though!

So cool, I love camping. I was just at store and seen a 12 person tent for sale for $99.00. I called my husband and told him to stop and get one.
Wow- thats a good deal! Watch out though- those big cheap tents cant take any wind at all. The first little gust and the poles just snap, but if you stay in really nice weather they are great. We have a one person backpacker, and two person backpacker, a 4 person survive in the arctic type tent and a 6 person "roomy" tent. The 6 person we just got and this is our first trip with it. There is something to be said about a tent you can stand up in!

Looking good! Glad you had such a fun time, I love camping! Nothing better than chucking your stuff in the car on a weekend and just going anywhere!
How is Nova doing?x

Thanks- it was nice! We are going out again in two weeks if I have it my way! We will see if that trip actually materializes.

Nova is doing very well all things considered. Things are going extremely slow but she is moving in the right direction. Every week I ask a little bit more of her and she has been keeping up with my goals for her as long as I make them small. When I am upstairs in our loft looking down and she thinks she is alone with the other dogs she is really coming out of her shell. She loves to play and is just so smart. I can't wait to start seeing her real personality around me.

It's a good Swiss something heavy duty tent.

Love the camping pics! My husband & I have tent camped before, in our pre kids and dogs days. A couple of months ago, we realized a long-held family dream of buying our first RV--yay! :D We named her Jurnee. She's an old/mid 70's Class C, a definite fixer-upper but the price was so great we just couldn't pass it up. We're looking forward to taking her out in the Spring, and boondocking it as much as possible. Our chi Chica has been inside the RV, and had a good sniff around, but our newest rescue Ella (also a chi) has yet to see it.
That's so great to hear about Nova's progress! :p

I love camping in the tent. Nice to see you enjoying the outdoors with your dogs ! If we're not doing a ton of exploring we will take my Chihuahua - love having him on my lap in front of the fire, (but not too close).

Awesome! I tried camping with my hounds once. I learned my lesson though that the hounds need their own tent! Sadie tried to steal my pillow all night and Gibbs slept on top of me. How dare I make them sleep on a blanket on the ground LOL

If I did that to my hounds, I'd probably be homeless!

I am so jealous! We need a better vehicle- maybe not an RV, but something we can sleep in if we have to in case of really bad rain or wind.

There is never too much exploring for a chihuahua! Kerri regularly goes on 6-12 mile hikes, she can walk about 4 then we carry her for a couple, then she wants to walk again. If you start out slow and work up to it chis can become quite fit little explorers. I think she is even better for that than my bigger dog who has some orthopedic issues and can only walk 4-5 miles. Then the problem is he is too big to carry! A chi you can just pick up and keep on walking!

It was pretty cold so Kerri slept IN my sleeping bag with her little nose sticking out by my head- so cute! We bring Copley blankets and he wraps himself up and sleeps at the foot of the bags usually.

Yeah, when I got home I looked at my camera and was like "that's it???" We are going out again next weekend and I will take more! Not like me- I am usually taking way too many pictures.

I'm using the same thread because I went back to the same campsite! :) We went out again this weekend and were going to try out a new campsite but couldn't find it. We still had a good time. Also for the first time ever Copley growled! It was crazy. I went out in the woods to ahem... well.. anyway I was away from the camp. I guess I surprised him coming back because he growled and was all ready to defend the campsite. Once he saw me he was Ok but it was kinda funny to see, Copley is so incredibly mellow I didn't know you could startle him. Kerri always loves camping, rolling in the dirt and cuddling up by the fire. We all had a great time.

Kerri starting a new life as a lumber jack^^

Enjoying the fire and the sunset

Kerri loves snuggling by the fire but hates when the wind changes and there is smoke. Here she is hiding from smoke one way.

Here she is becoming a parrot to avoid the smoke^^

And here is the BEAUTIFUL sunset over the joshua trees. The desert is so beautiful, I can't believe how lucky I am to live here.

Oh you are the BEST! Thank you for more pictures, I really enjoyed them. :)
Outdoor pics are always the best. Your dogs are lucky to have you take them
on such adventures. It's fun. I camped in many places, but never in a desert,
it's definitely on my bucket list! Your pictures make me wish to go right now!
