Chi Allergies?

526 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  TuckersMom
What are signs of allergies? Josie digs at, around, and in her ears a lot. I've had her checked by the vet and they said she didn't have fleas, ear mites, or dry skin. Their only explanation was, "So she has an itch!" which didn't exactly ease my mind.

She also sneezes quite a bit, and her nose is drippy. I mean, if her nose brushes up against my hand or anything else, it looks soaked.

Just wondering if anybody's Chi has allergies and if these could be signs?

Read under Reverse Sneeze/Snort. Yes this could be allergies.I typed some imporant info. about this under that topic.
Do you notice any redness in her ears or do they have a strange smell?
It could be a yeast infection in her ears.

There's no discoloration in her ears or around them. No weird smells, either. Thanks for the advice, though. :)
Tucker's ears itched him for months from the time I adopted him at 7 weeks. The vet always checked Tucker's ears at every puppy vaccination appointment, but there were no mites, no redness, no smell, nothing. The vet even gave me some drops to use, as he said that if Tucker was scratching, then he must be uncomfortable in some way, though to the trained eye there was no reason for the scratching. We used the drops maybe once, as Tucker hated it. Eventually the scratching got less and less, and I just quit worrying about it.

As to allergies, Tucker has been sneezing more than typical for him for the last several weeks, and his eyes seem to have more tears than usual. However, he seems healthy in every other way, so I am not overly concerned. :)
