Hi, I am new here and so glad to find this forum. I love Chi's. For the past 2 years I have been rescueing Chi's and other toybreeds.

My newly rescued and adopted Chi has generalized demodectic mange. The vet treated her with Ivermectin. As soon as we got home she had a severe allergic reaction, facial swelling and hives. I am sooo glad that I was home to rush her back to the vet. I share this also as a caution to not leave your baby after any sort of medication is administered, the outcome could have been devastating. She is 8 months old.

Since Ivermectin is out and dips are very dangerous and a last resort for small dogs, I am searching for alternatives. Has anyone had this problem/reaction?

So sorry to hear you are having such a rough time right now.
Fortunatly my chis have never had demodectic mange, so I can't help you.
Maybe someone will stop by that can.

hi, talk to your veterinarian about using revolution, at our hospital we have had some good success at fighting demodex mites with it even though it isn't the explicit purpose.
