Chihuahua mix

Hello To all of you Chi lovers. :D I come from continental Europe, but have been checking out some of the ads on Ad.Mart UK. There's one thing I found a bit strange. I saw quite a few ads for Chihuahua/Yorkshire terrier mix and they're selling them for around Ł350!!! I don't know whether it is normal to sell mix breeds in UK, but everywhere else you get them for free. Well mostly people would charge for all the expences (like food or vaccinations), but no way you'd get a person buying a mix breed for that much money (unless it's golden  ). For that money you'll get a propper Chihuahua (pet quality).

Thank you and have a very nice day!

No Im afraid most people sell mix breeds in the uk for as much as other dogs, especially if they have chihuahua in them. Though I dont think a dog should be free just because its mix breed though, a dogs a dog, still beautiful.
By the way, welcome to the forum, do you own chihuahuas? :D
Be sure to introduce yourself in the newbie section, ow and sorry you said *For that money you'll get a propper Chihuahua (pet quality).* any dog can be PET QUALITY not just a full breed, Im just saying, as that may offend some people on this site that have cross bred chihuahuas ect...
I mean cross breeds are just as cute, and I love the way all dogs look different, especially cross breeds. Like people we cross races/colour and are all individually unique, sorry if Im rattling on a little bit too much, Not that Im against full bred chis, Im looking for a full bred myself, I just love cross bred too, their still pets! :D
Hello!
I am so sorry if you think I don't love all dogs.....pedigree or mix! They all mean the world to me. I mean, I do own a Staffordshire bull terrier mix myself and I love her as much as I possibly can. My point was not only the price, but the thought of mixing ANY breed and making money on top of it!! I mean if you're in it only for the love of a dog, why sell it then?? You do get my point, right? I understand the high price for an AK pedigree dog as this is actually a guarantee that you'll get what you're looking for and most importantly, you get papers that will show you who the parents are and so on...... plus getting that same dog from a reputable breeder will guarantee your puppy is free of hereditary disease. So imagine how sad it must be for breeders that have been trying for best qualities in a certain breed for centuries and then someone comes and starts breeding all over the place....... that's what makes me very sad  .

Have a nice day!

Welcome!! :D
Welcome.....in Canada it has become common place for mixed breeds to be sold for very high prices. Unfortunately the pounds are full of " labadoodles " etc. I can remember when you could buy a little house dog for just the price of the first shots...boy, am I letting the cat out of the bag about my age LOL
Hello Nabi!
lol, don't worry about your age...... we're all getting older :) . Yeah, I can see things are done differently in different parts of the world, but I still think there have to be some rules. If not, there will be chaos. Imagine people started breeding everything and anything, in few decades there would be no breeds as we know them today. All the hard work of our ancestors would be for nothing! . I think mix breeds can be as cute, smart and loyal as purebreed, but I DO not support planned mix breeding and mostly do not support people that actually make money out of it. And believe me, any good breeder would agree with me. They're trying their best for their dogs to meet the standards and also for the healthiest dogs, so destroying their hard work is a slap in the face. There's also one thing I don't understand...... don't breeders sell puppies with a contract? Cause I know for a fact no reputable breeder would allow new owners to breed their dogs unless it is to another healthy AKC registred dog of the same breed. Specially if their only aim is to make money :x .

Have a nice day!

I defenat;y agree with that!
"Designer mixes" are really common, and some of them are pretty popular too, Cockapoos, Labordoodles, and Malte-poos can all go for prices as high as some pure bred dogs. My mom has a friend with a Cockapoo and it is a wonderful dog. Jessica Simpson just got a Malte-poo. A lot of these are bred to be "non-shedding", so you get a dog with all of the wonderful qualities of a lab combined with the poodle's curly non-shedding hair. I think it has gotten a little crazy lately, there are sites that will sell any mixed dog for as high a price as a pure bred by calling it a "designer mix". I see the benefits of some of these mixed breeds, and genetic variation is generally a good thing for the overall health...but I don't think pure bred prices are appropriate. Nor do I think mixed breed dogs should be registered. But that's just my opinion. We have a wonderful labordoodle in our puppy class and he's a nice dog but I think some breeders play up the value of a mixed dog too much.
