When my parents got a cream boy, they thought of: Leo, Brady, Brody, Elliot, Romeo, Riley, and Benji.

I tend to come up with a general list of names that I like and then wait to pick until I meet the dog and decide their personality. Toby was going to be Tobias (Toby) or Leonardo (Leo). When I met him, I knew.

I always wait until I've met my new family member to decide on a name. I have many times picked a name I like and, when I get to know the personality of the animal, it just doesn't fit!

Plus, it's best to have a name that the animal likes, as well. I have a chinchilla that I didn't have a name for for months after I got him -- went through lots of names before he heard one he responded to. His name is Doyle, he chose it and he responds to it every time.

Stella came with her name -- I just added a middle name, Louise. She also gets call "Weezer" when she's being silly, but she only responds to that half the time.
