Clothing your Chi

Hi there, I have seen that alot of you guys dress up your Chi's and was wondering, do they wear the clothes all the time or only when you take them out? Poppy doesnt mind me putting her clothes on her, but she wont walk! She sits frozen and refuses to budge until i take them off!
I have been putting her warm sweaters on her only when I take her outside, as it is freexing here right now, but perhaps I should dress her even when she is at home?
I so love the look, and I would love her to be comfortable with dressing up..any ideas?

Hey,

I think shes just not used to being dressed, that might be why she doesn't move when you put them on her. Sera never had this problem, but she just walked funny for the first few times.

I dress Sera whenever we go outside, or go out somewhere. And sometimes when shes in the house.

I think dressing her for inside the house would be just fine, it would help her get used to her getting dressed. Just walk away from her and maybe she'd follow? I dont know if she follows u everywhere, but Sera does.. so...instead of watching her sit there, go do some things so she'll follow u or maybe get bored of just sitting there.

Goodluck!
Ozzy used to do this at first too - but he soon got used to them - I only really put clothes on mine to keep them warm in the winter I would never just dress them up to take them out - they are dogs afterall :D but in the winter they are very grateful of a nice jumper - but I never put anything on them if it is warm etc
Thanks for the tips! Today I put a ittle pink fleece jacket on her and coaxed her to walk to me with treats...it worked! After wolfing down the snack, she totally forgot she was dressed and has had it on all afternoon...I am so pleased! Also I have just discovered a wonderful doggie clothes shop here...they have some lovely things and so cheap, so I might be tempted! Oh yes, and they have puppy boootees....I feel a spending spree coming on!
I wish it wasnt so 'frowned' on for our chis in UK to wear clothes, i would go a lot worse than just them wearing sweaters and harness's :D

Same here...only when is cold inside or outside..I can't see putting anything on Stinky on the summer time or when it's warm..he would bake :D
But who can resist a cute bandanna on those warmer days....Kemo much rather be naked I know but he does get "something" put on (T-shirt or sweater etc) when its chilly!

Pnut was that way in the beginning... but now she is used to it. She is very compliant when I am dressing her and it is so cute- she gives me her arms, her legs, lets me button her up, etc. She used to not walk, move even with clothes on... now she runs around like she is naked with her clothes on... it just takes time I think.
I put sunnys fleece on him when its cold out if he shows sing of being cold inside ill put it on then too.
