so we have been doing the raw thing for two weeks now and Coco is loving it. plenty of exercise is being had with the tearing of meat of bones.

My question now is, can i add in other meats? and if so whats a good transition meat/bone.

heres some pics of Coco enjoying her drumstick dinner

cheers

That's great. She looks to be enjoying that very much!! :)

You can start adding in a new protein since she's doing well. Start with beef or pork, I usually recommend lean pork as the second meat after chicken because it's a little milder than beef. Make sure the pork you buy isn't super fatty and that it isn't enhanced. Much pork is. Read the label and keep the sodium below 100mg per 4 ounce serving.

Start by giving Coco her regular chicken dinner and then add in ONE BITE of pork. Next meal, two bites, and so on. Decrease the chicken as you add the pork until she has a whole meal of it and is fine. Go slow. You will continue to use your regular bony chicken parts for her bone content and the pork will be a meaty meal.

Stay away from pork chop bones which are sawed. The bones are hard and sharp. You want to feed bones that are covered with meat, so a pork rib would be OK. She won't eat the whole thing, but should be able to work all the meat off and then gnaw on the ends of the bone. Once the bone is stripped and dry, throw it out.

Looks like you are off to a great start. :)
