Hi all, it has been a crazy few months while we have adjusted to having Spacely, the chi, with us and him adjusting to us.

He is doing very well...we are still having some potty issues. Mainly, he doesn't see a great need to go outside and we think he is sorely mistaken in this habit.

He has gotten significantly better about guarding his food and now will wait until I release him before charging his food. We are doing better on getting food away from him as well. When we first got him, he would grab hold of whatever he was not supposed to have and would not let go. We had to either towel him or put a broom between us and him to prevent biting while we took it away. Now, when he has something he is not supposed to (usually because someone has forgotten, left food on the table and he jumped up on the table and took it), he still growls and grumbles but he moves away and lets me remove it. We will eventually get him to the point where he will drop it and NOT grumble about it. He really has made big strides in this area.

A local bakery is having a cutest pet contest on Facebook and Spacely is entered. If you are on Facebook and so inclined, he would love for you to go "Like" his picture and help him win $150 worth of baked goodies.

Voted! Great job on working with him on his food possession! You can also everyday while he is eating put his favorite treat in his bowl when he is nearly done eating his meal. That way he associates you reaching to his bowl as something good. Then after a while when that works give him the treat when you successfully take his bowl away. He will see that he gets rewarded for Not grumbling :)
