Im pet sitting for 2 of my family members families and so Odin goes with
me in an attempt to socialize him with big dogs. Long story short when I was outside walking the Aussie I came in side to find that Odin pooped on the floor. As soon as I saw it I was a little concerned. It looked reallly dark. I cleaned it up and out of concern and worry I smashed it between the two paper towels(sorry I know this is really gross.) it was Redish inside! The outside was almost a black/brown color. I'm concerned that it might be blood strictly based on the color. Is there some way to tell? Other than color size and shape appeared normal.

I've seen this before with my ferrets....definitely blood

I would call the vet. Hope he feels better soon

I called the vet and left a message for her to call me back. Just wondering could the changing of his food be a cause for this? I am trying to get him off Pedigree puppy complete(dry with a tablespoon of wet at dinner) to Merrick Classical Puppy. I gave him the merrick dry puppy plate with a little bit of the pedigree. Could the sudden change have done this? I know I should take it slow I just want him off the pedigree...

This COULD be some dye from the pedigree. Take a sample over to the vet, and they can test it chemically for blood. Try not to panic. Also dogs bleed much easier than humans do. Let us know please, we do care. Sue
