Hi Everyone...
Okay,,, As I already told you, I'm taking the plunge into Dehydrated
dog food and I've been doing my homework on it to try to find out all
about it I can.

Ohhhh my goodness, I had no idea that there were quite a few
out there to choose from. Ones I have found thus far...
*N-R-G
*Addiction
*Primal
*Honest Kitchen
*ZiwiPeak

I done know many of you use the Honest Kitchen/and or
ZiwiPeak. But I'm over curious to ask, have any of you tried
any of the above brands???

I really like Addiction's ingredients, but when it come to this
Dehydrated food, I am a Duck out of my Pond so to speak.
I mean,,, for Ex. If a box says 20% Protein, does that actually
mean my pooch is getting 20% Protein at each feeding:confused::confused:
A dear lady tried to explain some, but I need more info. on it.

Anyone can help me out with any great brands, and the Protein levels
I would be Most appreciative to you...
THANKS.........
Blessings.
Ohhhh btw,,, my d.h and i drove a good distance this wk.end to
a pet store to get some kind of D. Food and they did not carry
any. None whatsoever.... How disapointing.....:foxes15::(

I e-mailed HK about the protein levels. It's the protein % as fed that makes the difference.

We use HK and ZP. We've tried Addiction but I didn't really like it as much as the HK. It appears to be of lesser quality and costs more money (to me).

I've never heard of N-R-G before so I don't know anything about it.

Three more freeze dried/dehydrated foods not on your list are:
-Sojos (dehydrated)
-Grandma Lucy's (freeze dried)
-Stella & Chewy's (freeze dried)

You have a mixed list of freeze dried and dehydrated foods. The end result is almost the same but the process is different. Freeze drying involves flash freezing while dehydrating involves using some heat (albeit lower temps) to dry out the the product. With that said, the nutritional value of freeze dried food is slightly better than dehydrated food but the difference is very minimal.

I have personally tried Honest Kitchen, Sojos, and Ziwipeak. My favorites of the three I've tried are Honest Kitchen and Ziwipeak. Sojos is a good food but they don't have meat as the first ingredients and it takes a minimum of 30 minutes to rehydrate, both are major turn offs for me. HK and ZP are both quick and easy to feed.

Primal is a frozen raw product as far I know. Do they have a dehydrated/freeze dried formula? Regardless, Primal is an excellent frozen raw product.

Addiction is another good one, it's dehydrated and overall looks pretty good. I've never bothered to try it simply because it would cost me more to feed than THK...and I already spend enough on pet food. Plus, I really like not only THK product but also the company behind the product.

Ziwipeak is excellent but very expensive. This is the creme de la creme of dehydrated dog foods but you get what you pay for. If I only had chihuahuas then I'd probably be feeding mostly ZP, but as it stands I also have a 55 lb husky to feed so ZP is out of the question for us cost-wise. Another thing I did not enjoy about ZP was the smell. Eww. :p

I think you've heard enough out of me on Honest Kitchen already so I won't rehash that.

Grandma Lucy's is another excellent freeze dried product. It's more pricey for me than HK which is why I haven't tried it but it offers more variety as far as protein which is really appealing to me.

Stella & Chewy's is also a wonderful freeze dried food. Stella and Chewy's comes in FD patties though. For a freeze dried food it's right up there in quality with ZP, I'd dare to say this would be a close second to ZP in quality. Of course it does cost a pretty penny too...again, you get what you pay for.

I feed Honest Kitchen, but if I were to try another brand of dehydrated/freeze dried dog food then it would almost certainly be Grandma Lucy's or Stella & Chewy's.

I would try calling different specialty pet stores around you to see if they have anything in stock before you drive out there. It will save you a lot of time and money!

I like and use Stella and Chewy's. I rotate between duck flavor and lamb. Brody is 5 pounds and when I use it - I use half of one patty in the morning for breakfast and then he gets fresh foods for dinner. This brings the cost way down and for me, and is a nice balance of a prepared food and raw. Lamb and duck are meats that are costly here if buying out of the grocery store or butcher so using the S&C works great.

I break up half a patty, add a little warm water, and let it sit for about a minute. It becomes the consistency of canned food. Then he slurps it up. :)

You can check their website to see if there is a distributor near you. If not, you can always order online. Amazon usually has competitive prices and they ship it right to your door.
