Domo (yorkie) is about to be 1 year old. He is just over 3lbs. I just noticed over the weekend the his rear dew claws seem to be unattached under the skin. Does that make sense? His front ones feel normal, but I am concerned about the back. I've made him a appt but am wondering if anyone has experienced this?

Florrie has exactly the same thing. I've arranged with the vet that they will be removed at the same time she's spayed. I don't want them catching on anything and tearing.

I've run into this with several border collie fosters. I've just always had them removed when they are spayed or neutered. If they aren't attached with bone and just hanging by skin there is a greater chance of them catching on something while running and playing and tearing causing an emergency vet visit. It's never been a big deal, I think just one stitch after removal, heals quickly and you'd never know.
