Dexter is STILL gone, and I am so worried. I nearly threw up from crying so much yesterday, my life is completely... horrid without him. He's been my best friend ever since I was 4 and a half. I just can't imagine life without him, but there is just no way he can survive much longer without food, water, etc because how old he is, on top of that he's a bit sickly and has arthritis pretty bad.

We talked to the neighbors, and they said they think he may have been killed by the dogs up the street, who almost killed their cat and they are now allowed to run loose despite leash laws, by their owner. They also think he may have been poisoned, or something in that nature, because of the cat-hating neighborhood we live in. Or he could have fell into the creek trying to cross it and drowned (it was up high that day, as it had rained the day he went missing, and the day after)

There are so many other possibilities, especially since the fence ending our backyard is 10ft away from a woods and creek, it's just a total nightmare. I've been running the streets calling for him, nothing.

I just don't know what to do.

I'm very sorry you're going through this, it sounds like you have done everything possible and looked really well for your cat :( but yes DO post signs! I know they can make a world of difference sometimes. I hope he makes his way home to you soon.

Wow, your neighbors sure do know how to think positive and offer comfort! My friend had a cat gone for 6 months and came back on his own. Cats will always always find their way home. I agree with Kitty, post the signs! Someone may have found him and took him in without realizing he has another home.

Good luck to you! I really hope you find him. Think positive.

Thanks to you both. I'm trying to convince mom to let me print up some lost posters, and maybe post an ad on craigslist he is missing, but she's not too positive about doing so.

Was he neutered? If not he should be back after looking for girls. Cats will disperser for days then come home when tired and hungry. I am praying for his return. Hugs!!! Plus don't listen to your neighbors they are no help at all. Sure hope not but maybe they did something to him as they sure have lots of ideas. Keep looking keep us updated.

Explain to your mom that posting an add on Craigslist in the pets section and posting flyers locally will be essential to him returning home if he has been rescued by someone.

Yes, he was neutered.

I doubt it, they're big cat lovers and have always liked our cat, they are just trying to come up with some reasons. They are helping us look for him, however, as we talked to them some more about it and they said they'd keep a close watch out for him and hope he's to return home soon.

I have, she said if he's not back within a few more days we'll post an add on craigslist, she's not too thrilled about posting flyers though.

If you can try to explain to her that timing is really important? I would also contact all the shelters in your area, kill and no kill. They hold animals for a few days before processing them through their system, in hopes they will be claimed.

As another person mentioned it's not entirely unusual for cats to go missing, but his age and medical issues are worrying. The fact that he's an unusual breed makes me suspect that he may have actually been picked up by someone outside.

Thanks everyone. He's still missing, unfortunately, and I am SERIOUSLY worried. But we think we know what happened.

There's this pack of stray dogs that run through the woods, and according to one of our neighbors, they hang out behind her house, and that's where Dexter also likes to hang out. The dogs have gotten after him before, and... I'm worried he may have been killed by the dogs.

We WILL be going to our local Humane Society/Animal Control sometime Saturday, though, and hopefully he was picked up.

On a happy note, however, we found out who we got him from was wrong about his breed. He is not a Siamese/Egyptian Mau mix, I don't believe. I think he's a Lynx Point Siamese, as he looks EXACTLY, to the tee, like them. So if we find him, at least we know for sure what he is.

In 2 hours he'll have been missing exactly 7 days. There are too many landslides and snakes in the woods to go in and look, and I am begging mom to go to the local Animal Control to see if he's there, she said we will tomorrow afternoon. I am very depressed, and I have anxiety/panic attack problems and the past 2 nights I have been having panic attacks to the point the medicine I have to take is not even working and I can't sleep. I'm exhausted, struggling with school and SERIOUSLY in a state of grief. Something deep down tells me that he won't be at the shelter, and that I'll never see him again, but I just really hope I'm wrong.
