do you think this would be ok?

Charlie is a good eater and has no problems crunching dry kibble. I have been feeding him three times a day and then leaving dry out for him to munch on if he gets hungry when I feed him I mix his kibble with canned food and I really want to get him to where he is off can food and only eating dry. I've been adding a little less canned and a little more dry each time but what I'd like to try now is to cut out his mid day canned food and just let him munch on dry do you think he's old enough to try this? He's 3 1/2 months old.

I can't think of any reason not to. He might get a bit stubborn and not want to eat without the canned, but don't cave! He won't starve himself :)
I don't think there would be anything wrong with that. MY Chloe is very close in age to Charlie. She's 15 weeks old. She's been eating only dry kibble since before she even came to us at almost 10 weeks old. She also only eats 2 meals a day, and has the whole time we've had her.
I think that would be totally fine. I might add some water to the kibble though just to boost the moisture content.
Thank you all for your input with the weather getting nicer it would make things so much easier to be able to bring a cup of water and a baggie of kibble with me and not have to worry about rushing home for his midday meal. Morning and evening meals are fine but the mid day meal is a real pain when your out and about and you have to stop what ever your doing and race home to give your dog his canned food and its far to warm out now to keep canned food unrefrigerated for any length of time kibble is so much more convenient.
I did that with Gemma a few weeks ago. She was stubborn to eat at first but once she finally got hungry enough, she ate. She now gets water-moistened kibble three times a day, but I might just cut down to two soon with a few snacks mid-day because she rarely eats her lunch anyways.

I don't know how often you take Gemma out but I live 25 Km. to the nearest town basicly I live in the boonies:) Anyway at least 2 or 3 times a week I have to go to town for some reason or another and I take Charlie with me. I always bring a little kibble with me just in case he gets hungry. My 3 older daughters and my grandkids all live in town so I go to town to see them as well. Its summer time now and I like to take the kids to the water park and spend the day with them and Charlie. I. Just don't want to have to cut my day with them short because I have to go home to feed Charlie his canned food and I don't want to have to carry ice around just to make sure the can food doesn't go bad in the hot car waiting for lunch time to roll around. Its easier to just bring a small bowl and some kibble and he can eat his lunch at the park.
Caitlan I just love your signatures btw and that little harness you got for Gemma is just adorable I love it.
Chloe is 4 months today and I have had her off canned food for about 3 weeks I do leave out dry kibble but she gets wet kibble three times per day, it is much easier for her to eat and she also get ZP broken up and moistened for dinner
As long as he is physically capable of chewing kibble, I see no problem with it. Toby is on kibble only and now when we travel or go out, I just bring some kibble and a bottle of water to moisten it. Now, at 7.5 months old, we are starting to transition to twice a day which will be even more convient. Good luck!!!!
