I was wondering if anyone left their chis with a pet sitter(at the sitter's home) when on vacation. I looked into a pet sitting service, but they only checked in on the pets in my home. They did offer a sleep over service, but it only included overnight. The day visits were extra. I wondered what rates sitters who keep your baby with them as one of their own charged. All the services I've seen were for overnight only & added visits for additional fees.

Hello~
Because we're in the middle of a family emergency I've spent the past 3 days looking into doggy daycare options extensively. We live in Northern California, and what I've learned is that they're VERY expensive here ... anywhere from $40.00 to $60.00 per day, with $45.00 being the most common number. This is either someone living in my house with my dog, or going to a home run daycare ... I did visit one, and was quite nice, clean, etc. with good references. Unfortunately at $45.00 a night the final bill could be quite large given that I have no idea how long I could be gone. I've decided to try and take Max with me even though he'd have to stay in the mudroom at my father-in-laws house for what could be longer periods of time than he's use to. In any case, the day care facilities I looked at were vastly different .... I'd sort of rather pay someone to stay in my home, you know?
Have you priced day care in your area? I'm curious to know if the prices are similar?
By the way .... the $45.00 was to stay the full 24hrs in their home.

I worked as a petsitter for almost a year before I got Luna. The prices were pretty fair for daily visits, about $16-$19 a day. But the overnight stays were kind of pricey- $55 and up. However, the upside was the petsitter came to your home, thereby causing less stress to the animal. And they stayed for as long as needed. It was a pretty good job. ^^

I've looked into it here in Philly and one place came to your home for $65 a night(for 12hrs.) Additional visits were about $15. The place I researched charged a little extra for additinal pets. They were all bonded & insured. The only cheaper options were people, who just did it for extra income. They were not insured. Some take them into their home for about & $25-50 depending on the size & how many dogs. I feel kind of weird having a stranger stay at my home. But I don't like the idea of the dogs being left alone except for walks. My vet boards for only $25 a night, but the dogs are kept in kennels.

yeah if your oging to go with the inhome option the person should at least be insured AND come with good references before id invite them into my home free will with a key.
however those that are lisenced and bonded are worth the extra cash because if somehting does happy you AND the sitter are both protected.
