Right now, the greatest thing about our new adventure with Simcha is that he is so incredibly lively and playful. I hesitate to use human terms, but he is extremely happy, may I even say comical in his personality. Whether he suddenly erupts into running around the house, going wild with a toy, going wild chasing a spider or a tiny lizard, he brings a smile to my face.

But he is a mere adolescent; he will be 2 years old in December. I find myself wondering if some of this playful behavior will fade as he matures. What has been the experience of those of you Chi people who have had the same dog for several years? Can I hope that Simcha's wild and crazy side does not go away completely?

My Chihuahua in the US is going to be 9 soon and she is still as playful as ever. She'll play fetch until you tire out and she'll run around and chase a soccer ball until she's almost about to make herself pass out. We usually have to call when play time is over because she can really overwork herself.

I wondered about this, too. My chis are both still young and very playful. My last dog was a doxie and she lived to be 14. She was best buds with our cat, who was a couple of years older than her. They played together all the time. The cat lived to be 17 and when he died, Brandy wasn't as playful anymore.

My chi just turned 7 years old. Yes, they do tend to become less playful as they mature, but she does have her playful moments when we are in my bedroom & I pick up one of her stuffed animals & play with her. The other day I was downstairs doing laundry & I heard loud thumping upstairs. Knowing that Midgie & I were the only ones home, had no idea what was happening upstairs, so I went to investigate. Midgie was playing with her big yellow duck, running around upstairs with it (a rare occurence). It tickled me to death, so I had to join in & play with her for a while.

My romeo is 7-10 year old? and he still zooms around and plays with his play babies and the other chi's.He is not as hyper as the younger one but still loves playing and zooming around. When i first rescue him 4 years ago he wasn't :( his jaw would rattle side to side and some one just treated him like poo,but now he loves his toys and playing even with his lil tongue hanging out to the side and drooling lol.We dont know his actual age due to his horrible teeth he has left bout 7 now and lost his canine tooth not too long ago on the bottom.:love5:
