I have an abcessed tooth and my jaw is all swollen.
I went to the dentist and they said its bad and should be pulled.
Its too late to cap it.I have a super high pain threshold so I dont feel
things sometimes till its real bad.Since Im broke today they are making me
write a post dated check for todays visit and I cant get it pulled till I prepay them friday.
I have dental insurance too. They said they are "too busy" so come back friday.
Is this common practice now with most dentists?? I had a great dentist in
Mich but now I live in Ohio and the service is a joke here in everything!
I have lived here 5 years so I do have a history here and a valid opinion.
They gave me a prescription to get me by but if Im broke how do I get it??
They are a joke and Id laugh if it didnt hurt so much.I guess there is bone
loss too so were talking major pain.It only started 4 days ago.
Oh well..........give me more Aleve please!!!

Yeah, unfortunately most Dentists make you pre-pay even if you have insurance. :/ I wonder what people do that have no insurance, no money, etc.? Pretty sad that our World has come to people having to suffer if they don't have cash. Maybe there is some type of help out there for these type things, I'm not sure. But I know the ladies daughter across the street didn't have insurance, or anything, and no Dentist would help her. Her mouth was so swollen it looked like she had a baseball in her cheek. It was terrible!! I hope you get to feeling better. I wish I knew where to tell you to go to get some help. :/

I am a kid of the 50`s and have fillings down to the nerve.
They dont offer nitrous here in this state for some reason.
Back home they would ask what scent and offer you headphones
with your choice of music! Here all they care about is money
and they treat you like a cashcow!! The sicker you are = more $$$$ for them!!

Have you tried going to a clinic? Sometimes they'll let you pay over time instead of up front. I had a regular dentist for YEARS that I loved. He wanted an outragious price to just fix a filling that came out so I went to a clinic here. The dentist is awesome and he doesn't BS you. He is also not all about the money. He actually gives a crap.

I was going to suggest a clinic too or going through a University program. Worth a try. Good luck!

Most universities don't pull the tooth. They'll do cleanings and such though.

The dentist I went to to have my tooth pulled didn't gas me either, he just gave me 4 shots of a local. It was painless. The only thing I felt was him tugging. Out it came, no problems, bye bye stupid tooth.

Ah ok, I didn't know that, just assumed they did most things. I hate teeth.
