okay so i think we've determined that nate has trained me well and that isn't going to work out. if you haven't read my other posts, he has been barking at me incessantly during the day and gets me every 2-3 hours at night to go out. i am a well trained mommy but this mommy knows that isn't going to work.

unfortunately, i can't afford a professional trainer or to even take some training classes so any resources, either books or on the internet, anyone could suggest would be greatly appreciated. any personal tips would be awesome too! thanks!

In your other thread you said he was still taking some medicine and you still need to go back to the vet. Personally I would wait for a clean bill of health from the vet before I rule out that his problem being medical. He sounds like you've done a good job getting him to let you know when he needs to go. During the day, I would just wait for him to tell you he needs to go rather than asking him. Other than that, I would discuss what he's doing with the vet on your next visit and let them tell you it's not being caused by his medical condition. You don't want to untrain a good thing.

yes, he is on antibiotic for the uti he had and i was def going to wait to see what happens with him with the vet first. i do believe that this may be a 2 part issue (medical and behavioral) because he will often times try to get in bed with me after going potty at 2 or 3am so it looks like some of it is for attention. i only ask him if he needs to potty if he is barking at me or jumping on me so he lets me know first then i just confirm it because sometimes he demonstrates the same behavior when he wants to play. and yes, i def don't want to untrain a good thing! i just want it on a better schedule! lol... thanks for the tips!

training resources

Hi

Well I also need to train my chi so I went out and purchased the book Cesear's Way , which is really informative so far in helping me understand her ! Anyway I am taking notes as a reminder sort of a visual kinda thing but this book will really help you understand your dog , in order to train him or her !
