I'm just not sure if I'm feeding her too much. She'll be 4 months on March 6th, and already weighs 4.4 lbs. I asked the vet he said she was fine, but to cut out the moist food because it caused tartar build-up, said to just give her dry (but it has crunchy bits & softer kibbles) Anyways I feed her 2 x's/day, about 1/3 cup (IF THAT) each time. Am I doing right or wrong? She usually eats all her morning meal by the time I come home from work, but then around 5pm I give her a second bowl & she rarely eats it all. Any advice? I know she is definitely not going to be an itty bitty thing, I just want to keep her weigh down to ensure good health.

At 4 months you really want to give her all she wants to eat because she is still growing.

There shouldn't be any problem until she gets to 1 year, or close to it.
If your vet said she's fine, then I would believe him.
Just make sure you feed her good quality food.
If you want, post a pic of her so we can see what she looks like.

I have been feeding my Mia about the same way. At 3 mo. old she weighed ab/ 3 lbs, but she is not fat at all. She is a dear head and has long, pretty legs. Is your chi a apple or dear head?

Here is a pic of Mia. Hope everything goes well.
