we're in the midst of winter here.
I have to tell you an amusing story that happened when I was in 6th grade (11 years old). We were studying geography and climates and the teacher told us that when it was winter in the northern hemisphere it was summer in the southern hemisphere and vice versa.

One of the questions on the test was something like "When do they celebrate Christmas in Australia?" It was multiple choice and the choices were December 25, June 25, and (I can't recall) probably September 25 and March 25. Well, everybody knows Christmas is a winter holiday so obviously the answer is June 25. Every single kid in class guessed June 25! At least it showed we were paying attention to the stuff about opposite seasons.
