I know many dogs aren't big fans of organs. Since the raw diet requires it, it can be a deal breaker for some dogs that refuse to eat their liver and kidney. While organs are only 10% of the raw diet (5% being liver and the other 5% being a secreting organ such as kidney), they are a necessary and crucial part of the diet as they supply nutrients not found in muscle meat.

Dehydrated liver has been around for a long time and is pretty easy to find in pet supply stores. However, I have recently tried a source for dehydrated kidney! Sheryl Hoyer has a shop on Etsy and she does some GREAT dehydrated treats. She recently did a batch of beef kidney and I bought a couple bags to try. They are only $8.00 a bag and you get a pretty large portion. Since the kidney is dehydrated, it's really enough for a long time. I put the bag in the freezer and Brody eagerly eats a piece of it straight from there, no thawing required!

She also does dehydrated chicken and turkey strips and also beef heart. I highly recommend! Brody is Mr. Picky as we all know and he LOVED the beef kidney! While it doesn't replace his regular weekly allotment of organs, I love knowing that I have a dehydrated healthy treat for him.

So if you are looking for a new and different treat that supplies a punch of nutrients and vitamins not found in regular jerky treats, try the dehydrated kidney!

Sheryl doesn't have it listed at her store on etsy yet, but just email her and she will get you set up. :)
