We went to Two Boston's pet boutique today to get a few things. And we ended up hanging out there with the cashiers for quite a while. Braxton is shy and Ava isn't good with strangers. It was nice to sit down on the floor with one of the girls who works there and get some one on one interaction with Ava and Braxton. I was very pleased with how the girls did, a little bit of treats, patience and positive reinforcement goes a long way.

I ended up buying the Sojos treats and they are a big hit with all of the dogs.

I stopped by Homegoods to take a look at the Best friends by Sherri pet cubes. I'd found them at another Homegoods last week. They are nice but not as sturdy as the Hip doggie pop up tent.

They are cute in person but kinda soft, and much smaller than online. The inside cushion is kinda flat too. They were however $19.99

:The girls look like they did really well socializing. and they look gorgeous of course. When I take mine out, Lincoln does really well. He is so social but very hyper! He is all over the place. Chloe is the total opposite. She is so scared. Wants to run away. And will not even take a treat! I have noticed she does better when Lincoln is around. I guess she thinks "ok he is cool with it so maybe it is ok?":ngreet2:

I never thought of layering something underneath that Pariero top. great idea !!! i'll have to try that too :).

my girls love all treats but I don't buy them treats too often. I still have some that were a present from Auntie Christie. they are an organic training treat made with peanut butter I think. and, I have some more treats on the way cause I ordered a cake and some cookies for Ellie and her sisters for May :)

Aww it looks like they did really well with the socialising, that's great. :) And they both looked very cute too, I really like the outfit Braxton was wearing. I've been working on this with Lilo too. She's very friendly, but a little shy too. It's always nice to see them make progress.

Thanks so much Elaina! I'm forever layering something lol. It's really fun to mix and match little things together. The only think with that Pariero tank is since its a bubble style tank, it doesn't stay out. I had to pull it down a lot. It keeps going to the front since its not made to hug the dog, which makes it look too short.

We had fun at Two Boston's. My dogs love to eat lol, so I have to keep treats around. They really help with training too. Braxton is shy and Ava isn't good with strangers. Both girls really impressed me yesterday. In no time the cashier was able to pet both girls. We have to do this more often

Thanks so much Lisbeth. Both Ava and Braxton need more socialization. I think this was really good for them. My other two chi's are very outgoing. My Braxton sounds like your Chloe 馃槅

It sounds like all 3 of you had a great day yesterday. Love both Ava and Braxton's outfits. Great idea on the layering. Now I'm going to check Carolina's collection and my wishlist for layering ideas.

My two are food motivated too, so it does make things a little easier for socializing situations and training. Glad the socialization experience was a positive for the 2 of them.

Thanks so much Camille. We go to Two Boston's every once in a while. The girls who work there love when I bring the dogs in. When Ava used to go there as a pup she was so outgoing. But then somewhere after 6 months or so she became very untrusting and defensive. I'm no trainer lol. But I am really trying to work with her on this. I have seen a lot of progress but we still have a ways to go. I am not looking for her to be overly friendly, just more confident and less defensive. Same with Braxton, minus the defensive part. She's very mild tempered and sweet as pie such I love 鉂. Your really good at giving advice on this. Do you have any tips for socializing?

Thanks so much Michele. I'm trying my best to work on their socialization skills. Kendall and Bailey are pretty social/outgoing...especially Kendall. She loves people, kids, babies lol. She's just a happy go lucky girl. I will say that having Ava and Braxton out together really helped, because what one lacks, the other has. And while Ava is defensive and Braxton is reserved, Ava is food driven lol. So I think Brax felt as long as Ava is comfy taking a treat then it's okay for her too.

I really have to work with Braxton on the lead. Ever since she was a pup she has hated walking. 馃槖

Something similar happened to Lilo. She was very sociable with strangers and dogs as a puppy, then I'm not sure why it changed. But thankfully she's never been defensive, just shy. She sounds a bit like Braxton. Now we're at a point where she often greets strangers with Rocky, tail wagging, lets them pet her head a bit, but quickly moves back to me after that.

It sounds like you're doing the right thing already. :) I think I remember you saying Kendall is very friendly and outgoing? One thing that helped Lilo is having Rocky around. Seeing him happily go up to people and dogs has slowly given her the confidence to follow him and do the same (at some extent). So maybe take Ava and Braxton one at a time with Kendall on regular socialising trips? What I do is go for walks in relatively busy places regularly and shops/cafes/pubs that accept dogs when I can.
I let strangers approach them, but I warn them that Lilo is a bit shy and to let her approach on her own (which she gets praised for). When she doesn't, I encourage her with a silly happy voice and treats. lol They usually go for Rocky first because he's all over them so I think it takes some pressure off of her. It helps that I have a park next door where I often chat to other dog owners or parents with kids so that gives us many socialising opportunities. And kids always want to feed the dogs treats so I tell them to hold the treat in their hand opened up and let Lilo approach on her own. Even just going for daily walks where they're likely to see a lot of people around has helped. I'm not an expert, but this is what I do. hehe :D
