Hello all, my name's Amy. I form Ontario, Canada. I've been thinking of getting a chihuahua for quite awhile now. A relitive of mine had one a few years ago that I adored. I'm sure I could give my Chihuahua a great home. I currently have a 2 year old cat, her name is Aurora, and a cockatiel who I've had for about 8 years, his name is Ajax. I definitly plan to get Aurora declawed before I get a chihuahua. I just hope Aurora is willing to share lap space, lol. I'm just not sure where to look for chihuahua's and what the price range would be. If anyone can provide me with some help infomation, I'd greatly appreciate it. I don't plan to get the dog for at least 2-3 months. Just looking to get as much info I can get, and maybe a few books from the book store on chihuahua's with lots of cute adorable pictures.

Anyways, Thanks For Any Info You Provide, Amy!

Welcome to the forum, Amy! :p

I don't have any info on Chi breeders or the price range for where you live, but someone is bound to answer your post with the help you need. :)
Welcome!

I don't have any practical advice to offer. Just know that if you do get a chi, you're likely to become totally hooked before you know it. They are deliciously addictive.
I thought I would show off my current family, Ajax and Aurora! Ajax is a great bird, he loves attention. He will sit on my shoulder for hours and loves his neck rubbed. He also really likes to takes baths, I'll get a bowl of warm water and sit it on my lap, he'll hope in and take a bath. Aurora is just a big lazy suck, she loves attention and can't get enough of it, lol. I can't wait to make a 3rd edition to my family!
welcome  i love your kitty, very stong pressence. and your birds coloring is gorgeous. i have one suggestion, look into getting soft paws for your kitty instead of getting her declawed. the soft paws are more humane, they slip over the real nail and are glued in place, they do come off in time but you can replace them. you can also get different colors too (i think they look like nail polish) and as for breeders and price for your area i can't help ya sorry.
Welcome.....I got my Bella from Berchards in Rodney ( near West Lorne ) She is a really fine breeder and really cares about her little chi's and where they go.

The price for a puppy was $950 last year and well worth it . Bella has an excellent temperament and has not had any health issues.
Thank you for the nabi for giving me an idea of what they cost, a little more than I expected. But I still think well worth it also. But that shouldn't be too hard as income tax time is upon us. I always get about $500 back so I can save that and one paycheck, I'll have more than enough. The only problem I have is that I don't drive or even own a car. So I'm hopping to find someone who breeds them closer to me. I live in London, Ontario. I've been going over the pictures in the forums and now I want one more than ever. =^_^=
Hi and Welcome :hello2:

Good Luck on your search!
 Hi, I just wanted to say welcome, I am new here to and trying to learn all I can about Chis before I, too, get one. There is a lot of useful info and very friendly Chi lovers. I also love your pets, they are so beautiful. I have four cats, a hamster and a 40 gallon saltwater reef tank. We are just animal lovers here. :D
Hello & welcome Your family is lovely. Good luck on finding your chi baby

Hi everyone... Just arrived and thought I would help out Amy. I myself am not yet a proud owner, but I believe I only have 2-3 weeks left before I give up my freedom to a lovely little chi - her name, we've already decided, will be Bella... my husband is Italian.
Anyway Amy... I've had nothing but chi on the brain for the past 2 months. Like yourself, I've thought about it for a year or so, and now I'm ready. If you have a computer at home or at work that's your best tool. Search and search and search until you can't search no more. Look at the listings in your local paper, call a local rescue shelter, post a free add in the paper, there's all kinds of ways. I found my local breeder (AKC) in the newspaper. Seattle isn't big on the Chis, probably coz of the weather, so it took some research to find her. Be prepared to drive a few hours if you have to. Make sure you know everything about the breed before you bring it home. I went to my local library and borrowed whatever books I could on Chis and puppy training. It's an inexpensive alternative. My husband is sick of all the research, and frankly so am I. But I'll tell you what, I'm ready for Bella, today, tomorrow or 3 weeks from now. I hope that helps alittle. I wish you luck. The sooner you start looking the better. Remember that first litter you see might not have the puppy you want. It may take a few times, so be prepared.
Okay... I want the chi off the brain and in my livingroom!
Good luck... I'll keep you posted! :D

I can see it now.. get home from work.. have my chi on one side of my lap, my cat on the other and the bird on my shoulder... I think I better grow a 3rd arm... LOL I defenitly plan to buy a book or two and read up some but I need to wait till pay day. I actually might be moving out of my appartment at the end of the month, so I might have to wait longer before I get my chi... boo hoo... but the good news.. If I move is I'd be closer to work.. so it would be quicker for me to get home. =^_^=
Welcome  I love the pics of ur bird and kitty :) My brother actually has a bird that looks just like that, his name is Jordan Micheal (lol..I know I know) Anyways- welcome to the forum!!
