Hey,
About 1-2 yrs ago i noticed my dog was missing fur on her back. It wasn't red or irritated, she wasn't scratching at it, it clearly did not hurt or seem to bother her at all. I took her to the vet and they did a skin test, and it came back negative. Up until now the fur hasn't grown back, but the patch of missing fur hasn't gotten any bigger or anything. But recently i noticed a smaller patch of hair thinning out next to the original one. Does anyone know what it might be? Thanks!

These patches have what is medically called alopecia (loss of hair) It takes a biopsy to find the REAL reason she has lost the hair and not grown back. I had an Irish Setter with a bald patch on her back. After much local therapy, a biopsy finally told me that she had chronic pancreatitis! Wierd to say the least. She never grew the hair back. She was treated with enzemes for the pancreatitis. Sue
