Well it is basically an air dried raw food! It's like raw without the moisture, they air dry it instead of cooking or freeze drying. Their ingredients consist of mainly just meat and organs, no added unnecessary junk like fruits/veggies or grains and is very low in carbs. It has all the necessary vitamins and is complete and balanced.

It's high meat content and minimal processing makes it one of the very best, if not best dog food brand on the market. It is usually very easy to digest too.

The texture is kind of like a very soft jerky. It is jerky squares as opposed to hard pellets. I think someone on here even posted pictures for people who wanted to see just what it looked like.

You can find out all about this product on their website. Also, if you email them telling them that you're interested in their food, they will send you a free bag of food to try out. My girl is on Ziwipeak and I couldn't be happier with it. I see all of the benefits I saw with raw feeding with the convenience of food in a bag. Right now I can no longer feed raw. My Chihuahua's coat is super shiny, no longer has dandruff, breath isn't as bad, and she has super tiny firmed poops. On kibble, her poop was always huge and sloppy no matter the brand. It seems a bit pricey at first but the feeding amounts are tiny. My should be 7.5 pound not so active dog eats about half an ounce a day. She gets her necessary daily exercise but she's not super active. I also feed a raw pork rib 2 - 3 times a week for the dental benefits.

I would definitely give it a try if you're interested. It's a really great food :)

Everything that onyx said! Lol.

Fresh New Zealand ingredients, balanced raw diet, convenience of kibble. It's a wonder food!!

I put Toby on it just about a month ago and I will never take him off. His coat is better, no tears, more energy, tiny odorless poops, and he loves to eat!!!

If you do try it, start with the venison formula. It was recommended for me to start there because it is less rich than the lamb and some dogs do not like the venison and fish. So try the plain venison.

Don't let the price tag scare you. It lasts a long time because it is so calorie dense. Toby eats almost 1 ounce a day- that's it. That's 1/8 cup per day total!!!

The cheapest place to buy it seems to be amazon. That's where I buy it and the venison is about $30 per bag, which lasts 5.3 lbs Toby a little over a month.

I was at my local pet store today. It's a local, small, and fantastic store with very educated staff. I mentioned being interested in ziwipeak and they said they could order it but recommended something called natures variety instinct instead. I believe it may be somewhat local bUt has anyone else heard of this? The woman I was speaking to said her dogs lost a ton of weight on ziwipeak and that she wouldn't recommend it? I tried premise raw for a week or so but it was too difficult as I have a random shift schedule and Can't commit to it the way I would like to. Oscar is currently eating acana Pacifica and adores it but I really like the idea of at least some raw in his diet. Ideas?

Nature's Variety Instinct raw is okay. Even though it's fresh raw, I still prefer Ziwipeak because it doesn't have the unnecessary fruits and vegetables like Nature's Variety does.

As for weight loss, the brand is pretty irrelevant. She simply was not feeding her dog enough calories for her activity level. In fact, Ziwipeak is so calorie dense that the feeding amounts are tiny and a lot of people report weight gain due to very slight over feeding.
