Hi all,
Sorry I have been gone...my internet was down for a week...I was going crazy.

Some updates since I was gone...Ginger is loosing more and more hair. She has no hair from her neck down under her and no hair on her back legs and the elbows of her front legs. Her skin was also turning black.
I took her in a couple times for this when she first started to loose hair and all i was told is to sit back and see what happens. Well now that I noticed her missing a LOT of hair I took her back again. Turns out she probably has a hormonal imbalance that is causing her hair to fall out. Her skin is turning black because that is the bodies way of protecting the skin from the sun.
I could get all these tests done on her and try some risky hormonal therapy on her....but in the end all that will do is cost a boat load of money and the treatment is quite risky.
I asked what would happen if I let it go untreated and basically nothing more would happen besides the hair loss. Honistly I could care less how she looks so long as she is healthy....if the only problem is hair loss why would I put her on risky drugs...just to get her to grow back her hair??.
So in the end I have decided to be happy with the fact that besides her hair loss she is a happy and healthy dog...even her knee's are in good shape.
I think I can deal with a balding puppy...lol...so far you can only notice her legs because you dont really see her chest and belly...hopfully she doesnt loose more but it could happen.

Kylie is doing great! Just one day she decided her knee felt a lot better and is walking pretty much as normal as she can. Nothing is new with Tequila...still healthy and happy.

Well thats all that is new with me...hopfully the internet will stay running for more then a couple hours...lol

Welcome back...i know how it is with no internet...i go crazy when mine's out for just a couple hours

about Ginger...my grandmother's pekignese, Robin, had the same problems, and it turns out she has allergies and gets hot spots. maybe thats a possibility? when robin was diagnosed, the vet put her on a food called IVD Duck formula, and my gram said that she doesn't lose her hair anymore and she hardly ever gets the hot spots.

but i agree, whats hair? as long as shes happy, healthy and loved, thats all that matters. :)

She is a year and a half. It would cost me tons of money to get her diagnosed and at the end it wouldnt change anything. She has no hot spots, no rash, nothing else. They did a skin scrape to rule out any mange-type-paracite but we were pretty sure that wasnt the case.
Her hair loss is very symetrical....she has equal hair loss on both sides of her body...basically if you were to split her down the middle both sides would look the same as far as hair loss and location...another big indicator that its hormonal. I can always dig up the offical name tomorrow at work.

aw poor thing. some hormonal issues can lead to other more serious problems. since you work there do you get discounts and stuff? i'd get the testing done to find out what exactly is causing it then decide if it's serious enough to treat...

Right now the vets dont see the need to test her. She has no other symptoms right now. They did do a blood test to rule out any other imbalances and she is fine. They are telling me to keep an eye on her but they did tell me the condition she has and I did read about it....basically like I said the only complecation is hair loss...this is why I am not so worried anymore. If there were other health risks I would most definately test her, but when all of the docs agree and every one of them diagnosed her with a certain hormonal disorder I think its safe to say thats probably what she has.
Basically if she is going to have a hormonal imbalance...this is the one to have...she will just have to be comfortable being naked...lol
