OK I want to share this story but I dont want to hear about collars being worn in the house or microchipping etc etc. My personal preference is ID tags on collars at all times for different reasons but......................

Bindi always grabs Kemo's collar and that is how she wrestles with him. I had Kemo on an adjustable collar but she would somehow always pull it so it would get smaller on him so I changed him to an old fashioned leather buckle collar to stop that.

All was good and she was grabbing away as usual and Kemo was not being choked to death :? ......until today when Bindi somehow got her jaw stuck in his collar which sent kemo freaking out cause he could not shake her off as usual. I guess he thought she was attacking him and both dogs were shreiking like they were being murdered. Hubby and I were in the kitchen at the same time (THANK GOODNESS  ) and initially I thought they just had gotten too rough as happens sometimes so I am trying to grab back legs as your suppose to-and I am pulling them apart when we both realized that Bindi was stuck on him. I was thinking that her tooth got caught in one of the "adjustment holes" and was stuck that way. I had no idea her jaw was stuck, so Kemo is trying to bite her and I was in the way so I am getting bit, hubby and I by now had both dogs in the air and hubby screams turn Kemo upside down the collar is twisted so I did that and hubby was able to get her jaw undone

Kemo had panicked so much that he pooped himself and Bindi had squirted anal juice all over dad. So now I know when they say I had the "poop" scared out of me......not funny then but.........

Kemo was just freaked beyond - once I took his collar off and made sure he was ok and made sure we had not perfromed a dental extraction on Bindi we put them down, and I was so happy that they both went to each other and made sure they were ok. Kemo was freaked though and he would not let me near him unless I was totally on the floor. he gets scared anyway easy but now I felt like we regressed back to when I first got him

Bindi recovers like always from anything with no side affects she just lets it all roll off her like nothing happened....

Later I looked at Kemo and he had ruptured a blood vessel in his eye so the vet said not much you can do unless he starts to close it. Mamma will fix him up, and keep it lubricated with eye drops..

I guess I will take Kemo's collar off now more although that stinks as he is the one that goes pp outside, but Bindi is the one that would bolt off so I want to keep hers on plus Kemo doesnt mess with her collar he plays with her in other ways!

It was the most scariest thing and I just thank the Lord that we were there together cause if we were alone we both agreed that we would not have been able to do it only cause the dogs were in total freak mode!
Talk about having to be quick re-actors.... That was how I started my Sunday :(

 Oh my gosh what a scrary ordeal. I'm so glad both babies are pretty much okay. Well except for Kemo's eye. I hope it recovers quickly.

I feel the same way you do about collars and tags but had to remove theirs for the same reason. Callie kept dragging Cody around by his collar and I was afraid someone would be hurt. At least our backyard is fenced in but still, I hate the idea of them not having their collars and tags on. :?

I had a similar experience with Cooper and one of his leather collars and it scared the poop out of me. When I was leash training him, I kept a 4' leash on him in the house and let him drag it around to get used to it. OmaKitty decided one day that Cooper needed to be hanged and, in lieu of a hanging tree, she pulled the leash over the couch. I walked in the room the moment Cooper began looking around like "hey, I can't breathe!" He now wears a break-away collar in the house and has an assortment of fashion collars for when he goes out on the town. All sport coordinating identification tags, of course.

I'm glad everyone's okay hope that Kemo's eye heals quickly.

I wonder if you kept Kemo's collar off when everyone's home for just a few days if Bindi would find an alternative method of beating him up. :) Maybe after a few days, you could put the collar back on and see if Bindi reverts to her old ways. Actually, knowing Chis, she probably would.

 Oh my gosh, that sounded so scary! I'm glad everyone is o.k. I hope Kemo's eye gets better fast!

I keep the boys' collar's off in the house but for a different reason. They play fight constantly and they are beginning to scratch their rabies and I.D. tags all up. I thought they aren't supposed to scratch since they are metal but they are.

oh my... that is so scarry... I am so happy that kemo and bindi are ok... I hope that kemo's eye heals quickly and he isn't afraid of bindi layin with him...

I am also thankful that you were both there and got them apart...

I never leave Gadget's collar on him but I do put bandanas on him.. The ones that tie are getting either snaps or velcro and the new ones I make get velcro or snaps no more tie ones... HE doesn't like it when you have to untie them to get them off...

I usually leve his harness on him during the day so that when I take himout of the yyard or have the gate open it is easier to get his leash on him..

I hope Kemo isn't freaked for long... poor kemo... and bindi...

 That is scary. Glad both babies are OK and hopefully Kemo will let this roll off his back too. Glad Mom & Dad were able to help out very fast. And oooooo...the anal sacs. PU!

I put a collar on Paris, but plan to take it off when we have to leave the house just so I won't worry about her getting it caught while we are away.

What an ordeal you went through...I am so glad everything was okay in the end. Give Kemo some time I am sure he will be fine.

A similar thing happened with my pups. Tequila got her collar caught up on the cage during the night...thankfully the cage is in my room and i heard her scream.

Ginger got her bottom jaw caught in her own collar while my parents were baby-sitting her. It took them a while to get her collar off because she was freaking out. She had blood in her mouth, but when it was all cleaned up she only had a couple cuts...no missing teeth.

Kylie also got her jaw caught in her collar.

I love the idea of ID tags, even though all three of my girls are chipped, but I switched from collars to harnesses after that whole mess. Kylie still manages to get her jaw caught in her harness (she isnt very bright) so she has to have hers off while I am gone. Now their ID tags are on the hoop on their harness instead of around their neck. It took them a day to get use to the switch but now they dont pay attention.
