Well, some of you may know that we've been asked NOT to return by 3 groomers...
Pedro is my abused rescue, half Chi, half Cairn terrier. His hair grows as long as 5 inches. The main issue has always been with his nails - he bites when anyone touches his feet. The only ones I could find to groom him was the vet, and they wanted to sedate him.
So, yesterday, I put my big girl panties on, put the baby gate up in the small bathroom door so as not to make him feel too claustrophobic, and went to work.
Trimming went well - I took his coat down to about an inch, and if I must say so, I didn't do half bad, although I can't say that anyone else would ask me to groom their dog!
I got really brave after trimming his feet, and decided to attempt the nails. He held perfectly still, and although he shot me a couple of dirty looks, we made it through it.
Then I had the bright idea to bathe him to get rid of all the loose hair. I did, and that went fine, right up until I decided to towel dry him. For some reason at this point, he'd had enough, and snapped at me...Didn't bite, just snapped - he's torn his muzzle off and bitten all the other groomers, so I guess all in all, we came through it pretty well.
And, next time I know not to try to do it all at once. He hid from me behind the couch for 3 hours afterwards, but it was blood free, and we both survived!
