Did you shave him? It is a bad idea to shave double coated dogs in the heat. The integrity of the coat is lost, and the dog actually finds it more difficult to cool down in hot weather. They are also more likely to get sun burn.

It is much safer to just trim and strip out as much undercoat as possible.

I have Zarita cut down to about 1-1/2 inches all over. Not shaved, but not so fluffy, and more comfy for her in the heat. She lies by the air conditioner vent!

Prince is a double coat and he sheds way more than the others in the summer. In fact, all three are shedding a lot right now. They went through the same thing at the same time last year.
