ok a long story,
people in the UK or Ireland will probably relate more to this.
iv had kidney infection and felt awful, dragged myself from the bed on sunday.we went to this outdoor market on the northside of dublin, hubby needed a part. so me, hubby, son and bianca head over. walking around, a traveller (gypsy) boy comes over and says "hey missus, my brother is selling chihuahua pups". so being the nosey person i am went for a look, the had 3 chihuahua puppies in a box. he started with the usual speel. i asked to look at thhe smallest one, a little black/tan female. well i was disgusted when i held her. belly full of worms.hubby said he thought i was going to kill him with the look on my face. so he goes you can have her for €350, well i wont tell you what i said, so i emptied my purse in front of him after toing and frowing, just under €141. i told him i wasnt leaving without her and i was going to call the police.ect,ect. so home we came with this tiniest thing, that he said was 4 months old.
took her to the vets on monday, vet thinks she is around 14 weeks. had her treated and a good exam. hes going to do bloods to check her liver ect when she goes back to be vaxed.
my heart was breaking for the other 2, but i never would have slept a wink if i had left her.

i know it was a stupid thing to do, and some will say your mad and you dont know where shes from and your only lining their pockets ectect, but do you know what ,,,,,, i dont care. i felt it was karma. i was meant to go there.
she is only tiny, 1lb1oz at the moment, but my others are so gentle with her, esp bianca, who minds her like her own, but she is like that anyway.

sorry this post is so long, but i wanted to share as i did not want to hide her away.
her name is Pixie.

Welcome sweet Pixie!! Tell your mama to take pictures of you for us!!!

Amanda, I am thrilled for you. I'm glad you didn't leave her there. Who knows what would have become of her. At least with you she will have a good life. I hope her sisters get good homes as well.

It's crazy that people sell puppies out of a box at a market though!!! UGH!

I would have done the same. This is why my husband never takes me places where they might have Chihuahuas for sale...haha!

I was going to take a dog here last month if a home was not found for her. I might have ended up being asked to sleep in their room if I did!

Bless you for taking her and BRAVO for getting her to the Vet and well taken care! How great that you are going to have her back to check further than just the one visit!

Please do post pictures. I'd love to see her. She sounds precious.
So glad she is settling in with the others so well!

I think it's great that you rescued this little sweet girl, the heck with other's opinions. That's sorta how I ended up with Pepper, some man selling puppies out of a box under a tree in 100 degree heat. Pepper was the littlest one out of three boys, he was lethergic and barely responsive. He asked for $150, all I had was $100 so he said take him. I rushed home and gave him some honey and put him under some cool water and he came around. Yes, it was a backyard breeder, yes I was supporting them in their puppy making, but I would not have been able to live with myself if I walked away. I wonder if his two brother made it out of there and how they are doing.

She's so lucky you found her! I am happy that it's you that have her, not someone else, or those terrible "breeders". I would do the same thing, I wouldn't live with myself if I left her there.

Regardless if you took her or not those gypsies will continue to sell puppies in that fashion. I am also a firm believer in when some people say they "know" something is meant to be that they darn well know it. I don't have a pedigreed dog ~ we have had several in our family through the years, but in being totally honest the best we have had have come from the worst of conditions.

A person should never have to feel like they have to have shame when they have saved a pup from certain death. It was meant to be how it played out and fortunately for you all you stumbled about, with a kidney infection and ran into a gypsy who provided you with a Pixie :)

Grrr! these people annoy me soo much! I think i would of done the same thing! They bread dogs like this because they know they can make quick easy money! A dog isnt just for money! i love my dog soo much.. The other day he jumped out of my brothers arms and he yelped when he hit the floor (my brother is only 4 by the way) and i was sobbing my heart out because i thought he was hurt!
Let us know how you get on with pixie!!

Ahh my heart hurts and melts at the same time! I would have done exactly the same thing so don't worry about what others think.

You did a very noble and kind thing by rescueing the poor little mite.

Well done for rescuing Pixie, you probably saved her life or saved her from a pretty terrible one. Just makes me sad that there are so many similar stories on here, so many dogs being used and abused for people to make money.

Please post pics of Pixie, im sure she's just a sweetie pie.

oh yes, please let us see pics of pixie. I too would have done the same thing. People said I was mad for getting my second boy - but he is part of our family now. We think he had been abused in some way and there was no way I wanted anybody else to hurt him when I knew I could give him a happy loving home. When he came to us, he was skinny with the saddest eyes you've ever seen. But to see him role over on his back wanting his tummy tickled or sleeping on my lap, or playing with my other chi pup makes me sooooo happy! who gives a stuff what anyone else thinks. Well done you and I hope Pixie is ok? xxxx
