Quinn is doing his not eating and throwing up thing again. I'm not sure if it is from all the changes that are going on or what. He hasn't eaten anything different. :( I've tried all of his favorite foods and he wont eat anything. He just want to sit and sleep. He will get up and go pee and he still barks when someone comes to the door, but that is about it.

Does he cough before he gets sick?

If he is taking water and otherwise behaving as normal..probably not a big deal-- maybe a tummy virus. But does he have any sort of insect bite, rash, wound, ?? Could he have ingested something he should not have ?? Does he have a fever or other sign of infection ? How is his breath ?? Does you vet have a phone in time for questions ?? Sometimes ,if you tell them what is going on they can advise you. They might know of something going around

I'd try some pedialyte if he is not drinking, but otherwise if he is an adult dog, he can wait for a day. I have had dogs not eat, and their tummies would growl and rumble, and finally after 6-8 hours later they would break their fast and start drinking and eating. Let us know how he does. Sue

He is drinking a little bit of water that I have seen. My mom went to the store to pick up some pedialyte.

He is drinking a bit of water. He just sit in the corner and sleeps. He will still bark when we take him outside or if someone knocks on the door. He doesn't have any bites or anything I can see. I dont think he got anything he shouldn't have. He doesn't have a fever. He break stinks but it normally does. :? I'm not sure about the vet. My mom has contacted her friend that is a vet assistant but she hasn't replied.

How long has it been since he's eaten? Sometimes they're just not hungry. Is he acting sick?
As of today he has gone 2 days without eating anything. When he thows up it is bile.

Does he cough before he gets sick?

My mom is home and has talked to her friend. My mom remember that the dogs did get into the bathroom trash a few days ago. Her friend advised some olive oil to help anything that is slow going. So we have given him a bit and will be watching him closely.

I'm at a loss of what to do because my dad hates my sister and her dogs and says the if it turns out he need to go to vet he can just die because he hasnt got the money to pay for it. And my sister doesnt have the money to take him and isnt here except on weekends when they let her have home visits.

If things are really bad and the vet can't be afforded perhaps the best thing for him would be to contact a local rescue, explain the situation and they might be able to help. If they can't help with affordable vet care, PLEASE relinquish him to thier care. It will be hard I know but you can't just let him die. It would be what is best for him.

I won't be the one to make the final decision. :( He is my sisters dog and she is already pretty upset about what is going on, on top of why she is is therapy in the first pace.

I understand that it's your sisters dog, but in her absence someone has to have responsibility for his well being. I was assuming from your post that it was you. Im not trying to scare you but it is important that you know that in some states failing to provide a pet the proper veterinary care it is termed animal abuse/neglect and can be punishable by law. I'm sorry for what you and your sister both are going thru.

It is important that you get him something to eat. When a friends dog had parvo(years and years ago) the vet recommend feeding him a protein based baby food. Perhaps you could try this to get some food in his little belly.
I hope all works out for the best.

You poor thing, i wish i could help you, i do agree with the idea about the rescue animal place though, can you just ring animal welfare tell them your story, and that you have no money, I,m sure they will treat him and, maybe they will do it for nothing, or you could pay them off. In Australia we have something called Animal wealfare they treat your dog if its not well and you dont have to pay anything, if you dont have the money, or you can pay them off a little at a time if you wish there main concern is helping the animals no matter what. Please try this because i watch the animal wealfare shows from USA and i think they would help without a doubt and you could still keep your dog. PLEASE keep us informed GOODLUCK- janet

Where does your sister live during the week? If not with you, can she take him with her to take care of him? Karen is right, you are a teenager that should not be dealing with this on her own. I would think that you could be able to contact a local Humane Society or some other rescue organization to help you. I also agree that one of the most important things to do right now is to get something in his stomach. Do you have any bland chicken breast you could make him? Or something...

Is your mom willing to take him to the vet even if your dad is not? Do you or your sister have anyone you could borrow some money from to at least pay for an exam to find out what is wrong?

I'm so sorry about your home life.
Thank you.

I am only in charge of Gir and Eva. My mom is watching Leah and Quinn.
For the baby food would a protein based one be anything with meat in it. I know my sister looked last time for liver (for a homemade dog food) and couldn't find it.

You are a teen and should not have to be dealing with things like this.

That said, I sure wish I had some time to speak with your parents. They'd likely wish not.
Thanks Karen.
My mom would cry and my dad would just yell.

I will have my mom call around tomorrow. I'm not sure if their normal vet does a payment type of thing.

She is living in a therapy home for her depression and can't have any of the dogs with her. They are staying her because most of us (read all by my dad) are rather attached to them and offered for them to stay her instead of getting rid of them. We tried boiled chicken which he ate last time he was sick and he wouldn't touch it. We've tried eggs, bacon, cottage cheese and chicken broth. He wouldn't eat any of it.
She is more than willing to take him. It just the money issue that is the problem. I'll see if my brother would let us borrow money.

I've never seen a liver flavored baby food. Try something with Chicken as the main component. Look for jars that say "chicken dinner" or "chicken and vegetables" some might have beef flavors. Also look at calorie content. In this situation I would go with the highest amount of calories. Avoid fruit flavors as that's mostly sugar and not what a dog needs.
Good Luck and please keep us posted!

Just to update. We took him the vet and she said that he has a very faint case of parvo (her exact words). She said that it was barely showing up on the test. He was given the liquids and antibiotic. We picked up pedialyte and baby food on the way home. My moms is scared that the other dogs and Leah's puppies are all going to get it and die. :(

He hasn't thrown up since about 8 am this moring (his appointment was at 2pm). He has been able to keep down ice cubes and a few small peices of tuna fish.
