I bought a pack of steaks today for Lion and Penny.. I rarely eat meat, and I have never purchased raw steak before. I noticed some brown spots in the meat, and when I cut it open there was a brown line running through it. Is that normal? When I fed them dinner I cut a piece off that had no brown spots just to be safe. Here are photos:

Would you feed this, or toss it?

I would feed it. I've seen beef do that. It has a red dye injected into it at the factory to make it look good. Beef is usually just a plain grey color. That is what you are seeing come through. I would have no problem at all feeding it.

As long as the meat is still moist, I'd feed it. From time to time, I get pieces of meat that look similar to that when I cut them up and Zippy hasn't had any issues with them. If the meat starts to dry out or pick up an odor, however, I generally just throw it away. (Although I know that I am probably being too cautious here).
