Necessities For my girls...
* Collar / Harness / ID tag
* Leash
* Carrier
* Toys (plush, tug rope, chew toys)
* Chews (Bully Sticks, Himalayan Chews, Antlers)
* Training Treats
* Pee Pads
* Food & Water Bowl
* Doggy Shampoo / baby wipes

Things I DON'T have, but many people do...
* Dog Bed / blanket - We had one, but they never used it and I ended up donating it. They always just sleep with me
* Crate - I never crated my girls, many people do. They have the run of the living room and kitchen when I'm gone. Lily learned fast to use the pee pad, I'm still having problems with Olive though....

Things I have but don't NEED
* Clothes - Clothes are cute, but they don't need them and they hardly ever wear what they have. We live in California and it never gets super cold. If I lived in a colder climate then they probably would wear them more.
* Doggy Nail Trimmers - I have a nice pair of doggy nail trimmers, but really you can always use normal trimmers or have a groomer do it.
* Nupro Supplement powder / Salmon Oil - I raw feed, and add Nupro and / or salmon oil to their food on occasion, but I'm not sure they really even need it though.

What are something's you guys got for your chi babies?
I want to by my little brownie all this stuff but feel like I'm going over board lol
So. Much. Stuff. LOL. I can never get enough.

Clothes- 5 T-shirts for everyday wear, two light jackets, a fleece sweatshirt, and a really heavy jacket. None of this is needed except the coat for cold weather.

Collars/Harnesses/Leads- A collar, two harnesses, two leads. All needed (at least one of each).

Carriers/Cages- A blue carrier, right now. I'm in the market for another, more neutral one. Also, a kind of diaper bag for traveling with all of his stuff. Two cages. One for downstairs and travel, one for upstairs. I believe that the carrier is needed for car travel. My boy is crate trained, so that's necessary for him too.

Toys/Treats- 36748865748923783 plush stuffed toys. 10ish bones. 4 rope bones. Training treats (Toby's a puppy). Grain free treats. Bully sticks. Not all of these are necessary, but it's definitely important to give them something constructive to do.

Grooming: Puppy wipes. Dog bath. Dog shampoo. Ear wipes. Nail grinder. Nail clippers. Toothbrush and toothpaste. Microfiber towels. Brush. Comb. Most of this is needed.

Other: Two fleece blankets. Food water bowls (2 sets). A travel bowl for food. A travel bottle/bowl for water.

Pee pads are DEFINITELY needed for me because Toby is mostly pad trained, although he gets walked 1-2 times a day.

And so much more...

The thing my Chi's love the most is their little covered house

They sleep in there, hide in there when they feel scared and play in there - it's their favourite spot in the house.

In the toy department mine seem to like stuffed toys more than anything else, and you really can't have too many, I just rotate them giving 4 or 5 at a time.

I definitely overdid it when I first got the girls and bought them SO much stuff, but after awhile I realized what they really need, and what they don't HAVE to have.
Well right now I have a dog bed, kennel, 2 coats, puppy pads, collar, couple toys, bones and treats. I don't want to get to crazy but I feel that he could use a little more:)

Eh, you did good restraining yourself. I just got Toby two and a half months ago, and I went crazy. I wish I hadn't though. I wish I had saved that money and bought a little bit at a time. That way I could see the "Toby happy face" more often now.

I have the stuff everyone has listed and probably too much. Both of mine have beds which they use but I also wish I had one of those sleeping bag kind of beds. I think Shelly who posts on here makes them. I would lay it on the couch for them or on the ottoman in front of the chair where I sit and read because they like to sit there with me.

It doesn't? It may not get super cold in certain parts of California, but where I'm at it gets pretty darn cold! lol
Well... it doesn't get cold here (In LA) compared to other places. I lived in the mid west (Chicago & Michigan) most of my life and if I still lived there then I could see needing jackets and sweaters for the girls, but for the most part it never gets under 50 degrees in LA, and when it's cold it's normally at night, when we're indoors and warm.

There has been a few occasions when we've been to the dog park during the day and I put sweaters on them because it was chilly, but having 1 sweater for each of them is all they really need. I definitely over did it with the doggy clothes at first though, and I've been meaning to either donate or sell what they never use.

Hi!

It's easy to buy a lot of stuff!

We have the following:

Large midwest Xpen (this thing is awesome! we use it for all kinds of things)

Small midwest crate my cats and my female dog like to use this, I have one of those tiger dreams fuzzy liner things in it.

Several snuggle snacks, Bijou is the only one who uses them, he is my burrower, my girl does not like to burrow she likes to lay on top of soft things :D

Several tiny donut shaped beds in cute prints leopard/zebra/polka dots scattered around the house, the cats & dogs interchangably lounge in these throughout the day.

In terms of dog carriers I own 5 , I rarely use them however! I have a Petflys that I have used on airlines to transport my babies.

Several collars leashes/harnesses.
Brushes, tons of cute bowls and various treat/food canisters.

Clothes.. BOY do we have a lot of clothes! my husband jokes that my dogs have a more expansive wardrobe than I do! I cannot help myself however, adorable outfits are my weakness and both my dogs LOVE wearing clothes :D

I'm sure I forgot something but that's the general idea :cool:

Where on earth did you get such an awesome bed?! Can it be found online?

Anyway, onto all Lacey's belongings:
Clothing (shirts, dresses, hoodies, sweaters, and 2 winter coats)
Toys (she won't play with anything)
Food (Blue Buffalo Freedom and ZiwiPeak Venison)
Treats (Freeze Dried Beef Liver and Get Naked-brand chew sticks)
Kennel (only is put in there at bedtime)
Three beds (one under my desk, one in her kennel, and one in the kitchen)
Fleece Blankets (she has at least 4 store-bought, plus one I sewed for her)
Dog Carrier Purse
Three collars, 2 leashes (one regular, one retractable), 2 harnesses
ID tag/Dog License/Microchip
One clear-view baby gate to section off the kitchen when I am not home
Whitening shampoo & gentle shampoo
Pina Colada freshening spray
Cucumber Melon detangling/anti-static spray
Furminator brush, a comb, and a regular bristle brush
Pet Hair Dryer
Toothbrush, doggy toothpaste, and cleaning foam
Pee Pads
Tear Stain drops (only had to use once!)
Food bowls/Water bowls
Booster car seat

I think that's about all. -laughs-

that particular one is an Australian brand but if you google cat cave you can find heaps of similar ones from US websites. Ax and Chloe have a similar one that is shaped like a kennel but is soft, they like it too but they seem to prefer this one because it is more encolsed - the snugglier the better!

I'd say buy less you can always buy --as you need soemthing. I recommend a harness versus a collar. At first you can get a ferret or cat harness, as these will be the right size for a chi pup. I really like the little cave sort of bed, it is warm and quiet and they can nap in it and you can throw it in the clothes washer to keep it clean.

Our most valuable item was honestly the x-pen & a couple clearance rack shower curtains (to protect flooring and carpeting underneath while you are learning potty habits). Helped so much with potty training & keeping her safe when we couldn't have 100% concentration on her. She potty trained far easier than any other dog we have had & she behaves herself and is able to keep herself content into her own area. She loves her x-pen. I've taken it outside, to visit family & friends and to hotels as well. They are very handy and found easily in pet-stores but I also see them frequently on craigslist at a fraction of the cost.
