Well I took my granddaughter to the eye infirmary today in Newcastle city centre.
LeStat came with us and as Skye goes in on her own I decided to try and take him for a walk in the busy city centre.
He did really well. He walked on his lead and when people wanted to speak to him he didn't cower so badly as he normally does, in fact by the time we'd walked a little way he seemed quite pleased to be noticed, he usually tries to run away from people or simply cowers at my feet!
He didn't exactly 'crave' the attention but he was very good and willing to be petted when we walking through the city park.
He even sat outside the street cafe at the university with me while all the students coo-ed over him!
I only had to carry him a couple of times when he seemed to get a little tired!
My only worry is that when we are out he won't eat anything or drink anything, not even at my daughters house, is he likely to have problems with this? He was 'shakey' a few times but I put that down to the heat, it was upto 29c today, I was wetting him with bottled water to cool him down as he won't drink water at all when we're out.
If I'd thought about it I'd have taken my camera and got pics but I didn't take it with me as I didn't know we would be going to the park!

I did have 2-3 people ask how old my 'puppy' was and when I said he is going to be 2 years old in a weeks time they looked at me as if I was stupid!
Also everyone thinks he's a 'real' chihauhau....I do tell them his mother was a JRT but again they look at me as if I'm daft!

Thanks.

LeStat won't drink from your hond, or a dish when we're out, he won't eat either unless it's plain 'people' biscuits.
Wetting him down every hour or so seems the only way to stop him dehydrating and overheating at the moment.
I'm sure he'll get the message once he's been out regularly though. I'm going to start taking him to very busy places every day now. We've only ever had him in quiet places upto now as he was so nervy when people were around him but now he's getting used to it it's about time he went to more places I think.

He's 2 on the 9th June so I think I'll return to the city park with him if the weather is good. I cna't get him there every day as it's not very close to where we live.
We don't have places that are that busy nearer either!

LS,

He is tiny but looking a lot better than he did now. He's not put any more weight or size on but he 'looks' bigger now, I think, unless it's just him becoming more confident?
I have a miniature JRT puppy who is only 1 year old and she's absolutely massive to him it's unbelievable really!

More progress!

I took LeStat to a different local park today and he let many children pet him, even one picked himup, I did ask her put him down just in case he panicked though, he was excellent......I'm so pleased with him.

Too many photo's so I linked to album on Facebook.

It wasn't my granddaughter Keirah that I asked to put LeStat down I know she's fine with him and he loves her to bits it was a little girl about 4 years old.
He still wouldn't drink but I took a 'squirty' bottle of water to soak him with and we did wet him in the river as well to eep him cool.
