Long hair Chi's with real long hair

I was at the park the other day and saw a beautiful chi, facialy it was nowhere near as nice as coco - but its coat i adored . She was so fluffy and cute, my coco has plenty of hair but it doesnt love out, and she doesnt have excessive hair!

The chi at the park was 10 yrs old, do you think that the hair grows more with age as my babes is only 10 months just now?

:D

just wait a few more weeks when he blows his puppy coat ;)

they go through this very awkward coat stage right after blowing the puppy coat and then slowly but surely the real coat starts to come in. that can take up to 3 years to fully come in
Thats very interestin indeed - i also wonder how long cocos will get as she is only 10months so plenty of growing. I take it coco has already had her coat bloom happen and not the difficult stage?

Do u have ne pics of a fully grown haired chi to show what it looks like?

Long coats don't all have the same texture of hair so its not easy to compare them. The hair generally gets longer around the ears, legs, and rear area but every adult will be different. Some have more plume then others.

Here is a picture of one of my breeders dogs, Jack. He has an exceptional coat and tail plume (he's wet from the sprinklers in this picture)

Here's our Fritzy, he'll be 2 in December. Although you can't see it, he has a very large tail plume also.

coats vary on long haired chis you get some with just the skirting round the chest and tail and legs like my jacob and then you get others like my tyke who is just a mass of hair lol the breed standard is basically skirting im hoping jacob grows a lil more hair but it has grown alot more
Poco's is really long and Bella's is only long around her ears on her tail on she has that butt skirt

here's what i copied from the akc site as far as coat standard is concerned:

Coat
In the Smooth Coats, the coat should be of soft texture, close and glossy. (Heavier coats with undercoats permissible.) Coat placed well over body with ruff on neck preferred, and more scanty on head and ears. Hair on tail preferred furry. In Long Coats, the coat should be of a soft texture, either flat or slightly curly, with undercoat preferred. Ears - Fringed. (Heavily fringed ears may be tipped slightly if due to the fringes and not to weak ear leather, never down.) Tail - Full and long (as a plume). Feathering on feet and legs, pants on hind legs and large ruff on the neck desired and preferred. Disqualification - In Long Coats, too thin coat that resembles bareness.
You can see Charley in my avatar ... his coat isn't nearly as long as others here. It's been great to watch it slowly evolve over the past 2 years!

i think its absolutely amazing how their hair grows so much! Plz look at the pic of my girl and tell me if ur pup has the same amount of hair when they were 10 months?

I hope my girl grows more hair - it looks so beautiful! I am all excited now - i cant even imagine what she'd look like with loads of hair :D
She has a lot more hair than my Charley did! Here's a link to pictures of my Charley through his 2 years. You can see here than he went through a really awkward stage where only his ears had long hair.
