Hi! I have a Chi-mix. He's (as far as I know) Father: full Chi, Mother: part chi, part Pom.

His brother (who has long hair on most of his body) was recently labeled by a vet as a "rare pure-bred long-haired Chihuahua." The mistake on her part, I assume, is that she had no way of knowing the lineage, and was incorrect. The long hair comes from the pom line in the mother.

Is the vet correct?

Could I technically call George a long-haired chi? He looks just like images of them. Not that I'd want to, to me he's just a chi-mix. I'm not that pretentious.

technically he's not a pedigree chihuahua so the vet was wromg but its hard to tell without a DNA test sometimes. but if he is mostly chi you might as well call him a chi, especially as it's quicker than saying chi mix!

It is hard to tell the difference what breed that your chi is also mixed with when it comes down to your vet only you know what it is that your chi is mixed with.
But it is still your furbaby no matter breed it is.
