So I am half heartedly looking at puppy ads. I figure if I come across a puppy that steals my heart the way that Khorra did, then I will get it. If not, no big deal. I can't believe how many ads there are for these little tiny puppies that I wouldn't think would be old enough to go to new homes and leave mama. Plus, I'm discovering that there are a lot of people out there "stretching" the truth in their ads, to put it nicely.
I saw this ad for a little long haired female that was advertised to be 2 1/2 months old and should weigh around 4-5lbs or so when grown. The picture was really blurry so I couldn't see her very clearly but she looked cute. Okay, so I figured she was around 10 weeks. That's a good age I thought, so I set up a time to go meet this puppy. I get there and she hands me the puppy and the first thing I notice is how heavy this puppy is. Way heavier than Khorra and her little tummy was extremely huge. I've never seen a puppy with such a huge bloated tummy. Even when Khorra gets done eating her tummy isn't anywhere near as big as this one's was. Then she told me that the puppy was born around the 24th of June. That is not a 2 1/2 month old pup, that is only around 6 weeks. The puppy was cute, but the bloated tummy had me worried plus the fact that she was so heavy and big at that age. I don't want to get a puppy that will grow to be too much bigger than Khorra and Khorra is charting to be about 4 1/2 lbs when grown. Then she showed me a "teacup" puppy that she said was around 2 months old that she also had for sale. This poor little thing looked so young and sickly and so tiny. I have no idea how old it was since she had originally told me the other one was 2 1/2 months old and it was really only 1 1/2 months old. Needless to say, I thanked her for her time and left puppyless.
I just hate seeing all of these really young puppies being rehomed at such a young age. Before I started coming on this forum I didn't really know much about when puppies could leave their moms. I had always just heard around 6-8 weeks old. Now, I hate to see any puppy younger than 8 weeks being sold. I've seen ads with pups as young as 4 weeks recently. I think these byb just see them as dollar signs and don't want to be bothered with the puppies so as soon as the pups start to nibble on hard food they figure it's time to get rid of them and make some money. Very frustrating and sad. Sorry this was so long. This has just been bothering me a lot lately and I just wanted to get it off my chest.
