Hi all,

Please can i just advertise a dog rescue in the UK. They do such great work, and have dogs being fostered all over the country.

They have so many dogs needing forever homes, they frequently have Chi's and Chi crosses on there (they've currently got 2 x Chi/Jack Russells).

Many Tears Dog Rescue

Unfortunately, they wont let me adopt because of my working hours - they know me, so i cant lie to them! My step-mom does some of their home-visits, she has rescued 4 ex-breeding cavs from there aswell.

Thanks for looking!

WHAT??? You can't be serious? Are you out of the house 22 hours of every 24 or something? I've never heard anything so ridiculous in my life, I'm just in shock!

Ridiculous isnt it! I could give a little dog such a happy home, but because i work more than 6 hours a day, i cannot adopt!

Honey only spends 4 hours alone, 4 days a week, i have friends and family that help me out. I have told them this, but they were quite insistent on the point.

Wow, they need homes....you have one, and they could keep each other company and play the few hours they are alone. 4 hours for 4 days a week is nothing! when i was working mine would be alone for 10 hours a day!

While I admire the rescue effort, it dismays me that they won't allow a working person to adopt. If that's the case, we would have most of our dogs in shelters.

Wow, no more than 6 hours of work per day? That's an insane policy. How can they expect to find anyone that is suitable to adopt then? So they would rather the dogs go to people who work less who probably have less money to support a dog? That makes no sense! You are a responsible dog owner that could provide a wonderful home for another dog. That is silly of them to overlook you because you go to work and the dog would be left alone for just a few hours a day.

Edit: Omg, Trinni is adorable. I can't believe she's even still looking for a home! I love French Bulldogs.

Wow, I would never be able to own a rescue dog there. I am lucky our Chi rescue recognizes that people do have to work and sometimes for long hours but they can still give an abandoned dog a loving home.

I was looking at their site the other day. I've recommended them to my sister because she's considering a dog in the future. Does seem a shame that they're rather unrealistic with their demands though. Surely working more than 6 hours is better than no home at all?

I know ladies, its madness! As much as i love the rescue, i wish they would change their policy! Surely its just telling people to go and buy another pup, rather than rescue an older dog that needs a home! I would love for Honey to have a little play-mate, they'd have a fab time i'm sure!

I worked for the Canine Defence League many years ago (now Dogs Trust) and it was ridiculous how many perfectly good homes were turned down for petty reasons such as working hours, having children or not owning their own home.
The local rescue here is so anti-breeding that they won't let me adopt ANYTHING (I wanted a ferret as a companion to my old rescue boy, and they are always over run with ferrets) because I breed guinea pigs!
