Marcus-opinions please

I chose this forum simply because we don't have a conformation forum. What I want is some solid advice, gloves off, nitty gritty. I am unfortunately not one who thinks my boy is perfect just cause he's mine.

Ok, on the plus side, he's got an apple dome skull, his bite is just slightly scissored, his top line is level, his legs are straight and not too long, his feet are good, his tail is a slight sickle shape, slightly rounded shoulders that slope nicely.

On the negative side, his coat is very thin, he does have a slight ruff on the neck but not much, his tail is not even close to furry and it's slightly crooked. He's a bit too long in my mind and the tummy tends to tuck up, his ears are large and his muzzle isn't delicate. It is proportioned correctly however.

Now please don't be nice cause he's my dog and we're always nice about other people's dogs. Just honest.
In my honest opinion I think I could with a lot of work put a championship on him but should I? Or would the best option be to neuter him and start looking again?

he is perfect but as yoppu say the thing that is off for me is his face his Muzzle does seem too thick, but he has a lovely stance and is a beautiful boy , I think you could champ him but it may be hard work and it all depends and the judges and what traits they prefer on the day- would you be handling him or someone else ?

Good luck whatever you decide and he is a cutie pie and he has lovely markings
Exactly, I agree that with a great deal of work it could be done but should it? There's the real rub. No it wouldn't be me in anything but a practice show, I totally believe in handlers.
Id go for it, try a cuople of shows and see what sort of places he gets - the judges might really like him - its al;l about the show shine aswell :D
I am not a judge but I have always thought Marcus was stunning! :D
Well from a experienced shower I think his head is perfect, nice straight legs but they are a little to long. Now I have never seen him in person and the pictures could be deceiving. I am only trying to tell you what I see in pictures. Could you possible take a full body profile shot?
I'll try again Lori, it's the one shot I can't seem to get.
Thank you. And please remember hun I cannot tell very good even with a picture. I really wish I could see him in person and run my hands over him. And smootch him and love him OHH sorry got carried away
lol me too lori he sure is a cutie pie
Oh yes, a full body shot, just because I'd LOVE to see more of him! :D
Well, sort of a profile, he was trying to watch hubby on the riding lawn mower and watch me cause I had the camera so he was kind of hunched up, honestly he doesn't have a hump in his back, LOL.

See less See more
well darn, that makes his legs look longer than his body, which they aren't cause I've measured them, LOL. Until I can get some help from somebody though I can't get a profile.
I still couldn't tell you anything about him...Can you get a stacked picture of him?

I also would have to have my hands on him to really tell you anything...Have you tried to go to a few shows and take him with you and ask some of the showers and handlers there about him? That would be a great start in finding out if he is showable or not.
Theresa yes. Two handlers of toy dogs and one retired judge all think he can do it. My question is basically not if he can, but should I. He does have some faults (LOL ok I know, what dog doesn't). I like lotsof opinions, doesn't mean I'm going to agree nor am I going to be offended if someone says no.

I can't get a pic of him stacked or even a good profile cause he is such a ham, he sees a camera and immediately turns towards it. Especially if I'm holding it. After all I must want a picture of that face, rofl.

Well if you have been told by a retired judge and 2 handlers then I say go for it! You have to becareful with those other handlers though, unless they are friends, they may be just telling you that so they can win against his faults. But from what I see he looks great!!! :D
Well the judge thinks he's got faults but that he can eventually take a champ, especially at the shows where none of the dogs are excellent. She was quite honest. What I'm questioning in my own mind is if I want to try to breed better from him. It could be done and he has a marvelous temperment and is free of all genetic health problems which is a major plus.
Is he shy? You got to have the I KNOW I GOT IT ALL attitude in the ring.
