Hiya

Im just wondering if anyone has ever let their pets do modelling not just chis. Just what their experience was??? Or if anyone has an opinion on it???

Basically Diamond loves posing for pictures and his good at doing his commands. While I was at my favourite pet shop called pet london people kept on saying how cute he was and well behaved and I have found out that they are a good modelling agency for animals just wondering people's opinions. In my opinion he loves all the attention and it would be a chance for him to have a bit of fun. But it will be like he is working for money. :confused3:

From what I heard your dog must be extremely patient and know perfectly at
least the basic commands. A good agent also helps. Other than that I have no
clue about the animal modeling world. People modeling isn't much fun, it's a lot of
hard work actually, so I can't imagine dogs loving it too much, but you never know.

Two of my three have done it. It is just with one company, though. They are not with an agency.

The first shoot was last May before we had Eden. They came to scout Hope and Ruby and decided to also use our house as the location. They completely made over sections of our home. Bedding, rugs, lighting, etc. We were paid for location and for the dogs. Ruby is on a product that will be out this month and both Hope and Ruby on another this month. Ruby is on yet another that will be out next month.

I was recently called for current pics of H & R. I included pics of Eden, too since she'd be about the best one for the task since she is SO extroverted. They'll likely never use her. Photographing a black dog is not so good.

Ruby got the call back. Her shoot this time was a portrait shoot in studio. It was week before last. They were right in her face the second half of the shoot. Of course she is my shy/fearful dog so I will be choosier about ever having her in a shoot again. The shoot was 1.5 hours. She did surprisingly well. She did even better when they put peanut butter on her nose to get some tongue shots. She had never had that before.
The bummer is that you do not own any of the pics and while I have been provided contact sheets, I cannot use or post the pictures in anyway.
I plan to stalk for the product with them on it, plan to take some pics and hope to buy some to keep.
Our stylists, photographers and art directors were nothing but wonderful with them. Both times. VERY attentive and in tune with their needs and mood. They knew when to give them a break. They said they take shoots with children and pets in stride. VERY unpredictable.

So, it can be fun for them and rewarding for you if you manage it closely.
I always donate the money they make on shoots. I'm not saving for their college after all. This past shoot allowed me to gift 2 people here who had rescued dogs.

May not have answered your question but hope that helps in some way.

Thanks guys, I just wanted any opinions to be honest. I am going to try it out when he gets a bit older and see how it goes if I don't think its right for him he won't be returning. Even if I lose a bit of money that's fine I just want him to be happy and have fun.

Don't worry LS I will be watching their every move on the shoot no ones miss treating my Diamond.

Thanks for the story Karen gives me a better view of what to expect.

Christa, I will let you know once I see them at retail. I am eager for the products to come out. The one that comes out next month is on an end cap at America's biggest retailer. The one that starts with a W.

I hope that the new images get used as well.

How it happened was simple. I work (and have for the last 26 years) for a BIG corporation here in Kansas City. There are about 5,000 people in the building in which I work. I do not post about what I do for a living. You'd know our company and our commercials (and I hope that you buy our products!!).

Anyway, I was on an elevator one day and someone I knew got in and said that she heard that I got puppies. A woman who manages our retouch department was in the elevator and turned around and asked more. She asked that I send pictures to her. I did. She sent them to the Talent Director of our Photo Studio. I never knew if I would hear anything more.

They called and wished professional shots of them to put in the database. That is when they made an appointment to come and scout them. A Stylist and Photographer came out. They needed to interact with them and take shots (rather than the VERY unprofessional pics I sent them). It was like their little interview.

The first call they got they wanted "lazy, sleepy pets". Um. They were 7 months or so. They were hardly lazy. They were wild so I said no. The next call was for a shoot the day before their spay. I turned that one down as well. Then they had a project called "active pets". That was the shoot last May. That one sounded perfect for them!

Then from the database, the clients chose them again. Once I sent the pics Ruby was chosen. Along with some other cool dogs like a big Great Dane and a gorgeous Black Lab.

So, it was accidental. Nothing I planned. They now have a million pics of them so I do not know if they will be called again.

I just hope that I get to see the product rather than just the contact sheets. I have seen comps of what the 3 products will look like and of course I love what they look like. 2 of them did extremely well in consumer testing so I hope that others will, too!

Two friends of mine are professional animal trainers that have worked on movies, commercials, print ads, etc. in California. It sounds like a lot of fun! So much patience involved though! You know your dog best, and what he can handle. Like you said, you could try it, and if it doesn't work then no big deal. As for the working for money bit, if you're uncomfortable with that, you could always put it into a Diamond medical fund or something, or pay for pet insurance, etc.

In other news, I can't wait to see Ruby's pics! What a little superstar.

Yes, ma'am.

My husband has been there almost 28 years. That is where we met. He is a Finance and Inventory guy (yuck. The numbers part, not him). I have spent my career in Sales, Marketing and Advertising. I have gotten to travel extensively, establish partnerships with other billion dollar corporations and have learned a lifetime in the process. I started there as my first job right out of college.

This is why I am always happy to help others with resumes, business plans, flyers, brochures and letters. I love sharing what I have been fortunate enough to have learned.

Yea definitely thats a great idea. Thank you and surprisingly I'm not patient with humans but I am with animals weird I know. Theres just something about his cute little face that even if I'm telling him off for something, sometimes on the inside I'm just laughing at him because it's still tooo cute.

Karen now I really wished that I lived in the US to have a little idea on the company and your story is so interesting and lets say that your lucky to get that opportunity.

Thanks. I am excited to see them out. I hope that I can find them!

It is important to note that none of my dogs were chosen because they are exceptional looking, show quality or some exquisite example of the breed. They are not. We adore them but they were likely chosen because they could well look like anyone's dog.

Also, if you have more than one dog and they choose another, you cannot get your feelings hurt by that. They are choosing a mix of dogs and sometimes color, size or other details are the deciding factor.
